    Bug-infested, but otherwise not bad. I think the bugs are bad enough to make that one a pass for a permanent location.

    - mill ruins/north loop/bohemian flats (north side of downtown Minneapolis) for next Tuesday?

    I know this area pretty well, I walk it/drive it every day. The only issue I see is that we have to pay for parking.

    because we live in MN and like most Minnesotan, we like to be outside as much as we can before old man winter comes back.......plus lakes = eye candy = and swimming when hot

    There's "bugs" and there's like "north woods cabin bugs". Most popular lakes are the former, Hidden Falls was definitely the latter.

    We are in peak bug season and its a heavily wood wet area. If we choose to go there again, maybe we leave it to early in the season or late in the season.

    It's the heavily wooded part I'm talking about. That's unusually "rustic" for Minneapolis/St. Parks and is more conducive to bugs than most.

    I'll drive through Monday evening to scope out lots. The bohemian flats one is huge and no charge for parking but there are a couple of cruise boats that launch from there so the light might be full.

    Google Maps


    There are a few ways to get here. I usually exit Washington (35W South from Roseville area), turn right on Washington. Take your first right on 11th Ave. Follow that until it comes to a T (2 blocks) and take a right. Go down the hill/under the bridges until you see the park on your right.
