so due to this horrible winter lets just say there is alot of body work that is going to be going into the car. anyways does anyone know of a shop around the metro that does vehicle wraps? im not looking for some crazy design im looking for just a color (seeing if its cheaper to paint or wrap. only upside to wrap is that i can choose a color i want but downside is it only lasts about 4 years.
I used to wrap, it's $1000-$2000 it last 3-5 years. 10-16 hours, two guys (more if its a van/box truck/bus)
will they do a full car wrap, and actually i was thinking i would like to see the car in white. im just wondering if its a good idea to do now or what. all i know is i have the whole front end that is going to have to be painted plus a pass. side door plus blending. and i know either way its going to have to get painted at some point but im just trying to weigh my options at this point
I would pick a color close to your original color. There will be some gaps where you can't help but see the original color (through the door jamb gaps for example). It's just the way it goes. I've seen white lambos withflat black wraps (tight factory gaps, world class install) where you could still see spots like this. Anyway talk to ghg dave as mentioned. I hear he gives discounts for certain favors... Ask him about that.
I second this. The best/longest lasting/cleanest/probably least expensive route (in the long run) is a respray with the original color.
i dont know about a full car wrap. doesnt look the best imo. wrapping the roof looks good. thats where it ends.
as for painting it if its not insane pricing to get it painted well im ok with that but thats what im going for i need to know pricing with the wraps to figure what will work best for me, i know if i wrap it now i will have to paint it later but it gives me a chance to get a different look with the car. plus at the moment for once i need to go the cheaper way, these next 2 to 3 months are going to be tight and i would really like to get the car back to "normal" looking. as for wraping the roof i dont know what i would do about that seeing the car is black, i dont know what i would wrap the roof. lol and the roof is one of the few panels that is not looking for new paint. right now im looking at painting for a hood, front bumper, pass. fender and door. plus blending for all. if the cost difference isnt much ill just get it painted im just wanting to see what the options are and where they start to make sense
If the car is black blending isnt always necessary. Only blacks you need to blend are high metallic and maby a crazy pearl other then that at my work we just panel paint most black colors and no blending. Have your parts painted and do not waste your money on a wrap do it right the first time and paint it. And I'm guessing you shouldn't be over $1500 to panel paint those parts if there's no damage on them. Good luck!
Yeah, I can think of 3 people on mnsubaru who can hook you up on paint. It'll be close to or less than a wrap if you're just respraying a few panels. You might want to look into rockblocer/ventureshield/clearbra for the hood, fenders, bumper, mirrors, roofline after paint too. You could go all out and have the whole car wrapped in it too lol: http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...lms-signature-full-clear-guard-wrap-enzo.html
white vinyl is hard to keep clean. so you say that it's going to be painted later? removing the vinyl and adhesive is a pain in the ass. if done right, the gaps should be filled with vinyl also.
anyone know the owner of an STi that is wrapped (i think) in a digital camo wrap??...looks sick nasty!
the one i see is a hawkeye covered in complete digital camo. colors are like grey, black, and silver. no blue to be seen
well lame, either way they're coool ahaha. hope to see your car btw i live in rosemount. im in inver grove all the time at a buddies house. owns a blk srt 4 with silver stripes.
lol glad someone has done digital camo, i love that look personally. well is there anyone in here that has had to paint OBP, is it one of those colors that need to be blended?? or does it matter car to car?
I've got a couple cans of rust-oleum black with previous uneven splattering experience, and cause i know you, i'll give you a killer deal. I take the time to lay it on nice and thick too, not like those other guys who spray light and thin.
yeah ^^ that is the one unless there is another one cruisin around. and i must have remembered wrong if its a hawkeye or not. im assuming since you pointed out what a hawkeye is that i was wrong about the year of the car. either way i was more interested in the paint than the headlights!
