    The problem here is that you haven't established dominance in your household.

    The key is to do this early, if you've been together for a while this will be more difficult but by no means impossible. Simply talk at your wife, not to her and tell her that you'll be doing something important with your time tonight. Tell her that she can do something to commemorate your anniversary by herself, like making sure the house is clean before you get home as that will be a good way for her to show you that she loves you. Possibly advise her to have a nice dessert or nightcap waiting for you when you get back, and that she should wait for you to get home so she can make any corrections to the housecleaning she may have overlooked while you were out. Make sure that any corrective actions are conveyed to her firmly, but harshly.
