perhaps by a bugeye that has fair front end damage and do a 9-2x conversion. The 92 is just so much more sexy

Can you even do that? I thought the front doors were different on the bug eye vs a aero.

As a competitive AutoXer and occasional track day attendee (it will be more often next summer, I promise!), I will say that at this point the chassis will have no effect. I run a 00 RS with 10k springs all around (over 4x the original spring weight) and the chassis stiffness is not a considerable issue.

I do think there are potential reliability issues with a swap, but there are potential issues on any well used car. My opinion is to go with the GC body, but what do I know (although I do own a 04 STi, as well ;) )

Heck, you guys are talking like a GC is some sorta wet noodle or something. It's not. Is it as stiff as a GD? No. Can that be rectified? If you wanted to, yes. But subaru produced almost ten years of the basic GC chassis with very few exterior changes for a reason.

Want proof that GCs can mop the floor with other cars on a track? Take a good look at the TopSpeed Brighton, or the GST Impreza L, or the ultimate GC: the RCM Gobstopper from the U.K. Yes, they're fully prepped race cars, but they're current. Question is, they had a choice, so why did they choose the GC over the GD+?

I don't know how much $$$ slobright intends to invest in this project, but dispite this, the car will only go as fast as he is able to drive it.

The best mod money is that spent on the driver. Anything else is just fluff.
