A noise may make a high frequency "hoo" sound (harmonic) noise and its noticeable when coasting or decelerating, mostly around 60-65mph mostly the noise is around that area this is happening on my freinds car and was wondering if anyone has heard this or know what causes it and some of the remedys. sounds basicly identical to described here http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1440709&highlight=rear+diff+noise
02 wrx. 120k miles. sti lateral links, lw flywheel, unibomer sexi rear end. rear subframe lockdown bolts. modded sti swaybar. all shifting bushings. changed tranny and diff fluid at 5k ago. plus numorous power mods but not sure they are really relivent to the problem.
also its only when under load. when clutch is depressed or in neutral and only when deceleration is occurring.
Well, the diff lockdown bolts WILL transfer more noise to the cabin. Unless there are metal shavings in the diff fluid I wouldn't worry about that being the cause of the noise.
What are some things we can do to rule out if its pinion gear or the lockdownn bolts r bad Sent from my Droid using Tapatalk
