Droid Commando, is not 4g but its a beast! You can drop it off a 2 story building onto concrete and will work perfect!
Also when you go in to upgrade, if you do it at a corporate store, make sure they waive your upgrade fee. It's $36 and they can waive it or they'll give you something free of equal value. This is at the moa store. Sadly I don't work there any more otherwise I'd hook you up but they are good guys there so they'll take care of you too.
I just picked up the Galaxy Note 2 to replace my HTC Evo last night. So far, I really like it. The screen is amazing and the battery life is proving better than my Evo with an extended battery. I have decent sized hands so the phone isn't too big, and I rarely use my phones as a handset anyway since I spend most of my time in the car and then it's through the in vehicle Bluetooth.
Just got my first smartphone. Yes, First. A Lg Optimus. I'm always late to the party but I save a couple hundred dollars
justcellular on Ebay ftw! Smartphones for under $200...BNIB. I got my dumbphone from them, great prices, fast shipping. Highly recommend them! And i would never pay $500 for a phone, or $300 for that matter! The same phone at the Verizon dealer was $360, i got mine from them for $80. And as stated, BNIB.
Been looking at this phone as well. What does it use for video output? Would like to mirror (down convert to rca if necessary) on an in dash screen. Although the 5.5" screen might be big enough to use as is.
The only port on this thing is a mini-USB so you'll need their cable for an HDMI out. It's got quite a bit of screen space for gauges, my home screen is running 1 large and 4 mediums IIRC.
not too worried about gauges but more for nav. it'll be for use in a carburated car. thanks for the input fellas. /threadjack
Ah, gotcha. If you've got it up on the windshield, it should work just fine for that. I'd go bigger though if you're thinking in-dash nav.
Does anyone know how it works with AT&T if I want to "try" a phone out? Say I want to go with the new Nokia 920 and I hate it, can I just return it? Do I have to pay a fee of some sort? Thanks
I believe there is a 14 day return policy on all phone carriers, but there maybe a restocking fee. I know when I bought my T-mobile GN2 there was a $80 restocking fee.
LTE for T-Mobile should be ready 1st qtr of 2013...but you never know lol because Sprints been talking about boosting their 4G for ages and still no difference, I'm sure with LTE - T-mobile/Sprint will bump up the price...I just hope it wont be as much as Verizon since T-mobile's HSPA+ network is quite fast already and in areas in MN is just as fast if not faster than Verizon's 4G LTE network.
For ages? What are you talking about? Lte is out there ever since they've announced it. We just don't have it here in mn.
Seeing how sprint was the f first 4g network. Took them about 6 months to get it to the twin Cities. And that was the crap wimax.
AT&T has a 14 day return/exchange policy with a $35 restocking fee. Also att's lte network is supposed to be up and running by the end of the year is what we were told by the network team. They also said it was going to be in June but that didnt happen. If any of you guys have questions about att let me know.
So I picked up the Nokia Lumia 920 last night, so far I like it. Coming from Iphone for the last 5 years there is a little bit of a learning curve as far as using the typical functions. I am going to take full advantage of the 14 day return policy to see if It will work for everything I need. I hear good things about the battery so today will be the first day to see how that goes. The options for apps sucks but they say that will change quickly.
Ok, this didn't take long. I am going to be returning the 920 today and staying with my Iphone 4. To start my work email will not sync due to the Windows 8 mobile platform not being secure enough for our company Outlook exchange account. Everything I read stated Windows 6.1 and up would work, but they forgot to mention windows 8 will not be accepted. 2nd the battery life sucks, I charged it all night, unplugged it from the wall about 7:45 this morning, messed around with it for a bit, basically adding contacts and what not, listend to music off of it on the 20 minute ride into the office, made no phone calls, maybe 5 minutes Facebook stalking, 2 pictures taken with flash, and I am now down to 21% battery before noon. Work email was the biggest killer, the battery is runner up. The interface is awesome, and I actually like the size. I think I am just going to stay with my Iphone 4 for awhile, I am not impressed with the Iphone 5 enough to actually pay for a longer version of my phone with a woman that can talk to me. Thanks for reading my rant. For the right person this phone will be great. If my email worked I could probably live with the battery.
And an iPhone is more secure? Lol. They fed you a line, friend. They probably haven't gotten ahold of a unit with WP8 on it yet, so the corporate bureaucrats won't rubber stamp it.
Well ****, tried it out today and it's to big to fit in the front pocket of my skinny jeans. My fanny pack is full too. le sigh
My IT dept says. Windows mobile 6.1 and 6,5 work, but windows 7 does not. Iphone 3g and up work. I think it is crazy that Windows based email on a windows phone is not secure enough for IT, but my windows computer is.
Just like any other platform, they are not gonna deem it safe until thorough testing. Look at Android, malware went up 500% last year.
And that would make sense, but my coworker waited in line on Iphone 5 release day and when he came to work he was able to put our work email on it right away.
No, it's a ground up rebuild that quite intentionally looks almost the same, as will most consumer facing MS products in the near future. That's a good thing from a developer's perspective.
