Finally installed a block heater!!! bought it from morries and am loving it, i'm parking next to the garage and it makes for much better starts and is pushing hot air by .5 mile of driving. :)

How much was the block heater? I'm assuming it was pretty easy to install?

I think they(most)are about $30 bucks or so. For another $20 or so I added a battery warmer, I've set em up on a timer for a few hours before I head out and it seems to help having things warmed up a bit upon startup.

block heater. If you can change the coolant you can install a block heater.

Don't recall specifically where the plug was but I seem to remember it being a jumbo hex type or something. I did it during a coolant change and it was super easy. And block>battery but can't go wrong with both of them.

Plug on the bottom of the block on the driver's side. The heater comes with instructions. It's as easy as changing oil. Drain coolant, remove plug, replace plug with block heater, route cord, replace coolant.

just got my new LEDs for the taillights! love them, and they help alot with having my lights blacked out now i would say they are about as bright (durring the day) as non tinted tails. if it did it again i would go with the 45leds all the way around not, i went with 18leds for my running lights and its about the same brightless as the lights already were, couldnt tell a diff side by side with regular bulbs.

Installed a new set of Conti. Extreme Contact all-seasons on the stockers after blowing out one of my winters at around 5 a.m. on 169 a couple weekends ago. So far, so good! I was sold on getting good all-seasons over winters after reading a thread on here, and borrowing a friends Eagle GT's for a bit. It's nice having more grip on dry pavement when the roads are clear compared to dedicated snows.

I finally changed the fluids in the manual trans and rear diff. Almost 10k miles overdue. I pulled a similar move to what 'greaser' did. I got the car up on the lift, wrong size star wrench for the drain plug, got the car down, drove to the store, bought a bigger star wrench, got the car back up, drained the fluid. Mine did work out however. But next time I will make sure I have all tools on hand. Took me a almost two hours including the drive to the store. I think that's not bad for my first time. I can feel a difference in the freshness.

Block heater plus 21! WISH I DID IT WAY SOONER. it makes it starts much easier and you have heat on you by the end of the block. install took an hour. it does have a bit of a weird socket that is required, its a 14mm Allen. i bought the 14 mill allen wrench (for $14) lifted the car up at the shop, and could not break it loose. there's no room for a breaker bar, rubber hammer didn't work either. a day later i asked around the shop and one of the mechanics had a 14mm allen socket, took it off easily with a pneumatic gun. It's hard to break loose because there is high temperature gasket compound on it. Got some covalent in my hair when it gave though, watch out for that. Once it drains a bit, cover new threads with high temperature gasket compound, (i had to buy some as well, if you'd like to borrow some it doesn't take much) install and torque down to 35 ft-lbs and route cable fill with coolant and done. took only a hour.

This is a pet peeve of mine, your car is NOT a GC8. Its a GC4, or a GC6. Hugs and kisses, crazy pantz.

what the hell are you talking about? the only thing about my car that's not a gc8 is the fact that its still LHD. and its a 4 door, hence a GC...8... that 8 is you know, the JDM EJ20k(G STi block with K heads) thats swapped into it.

    I didn't say they were for the GF4 ;)

If it doesnt say GC8 in your vin, its not a GC8. You can dress a pig up to look like a dog, teach it to bark and fetch, but its still a pig.

perhaps something more exotic and off the wall, like a gumpert. in theory, its all the same... but then I won't be able to post in here, because it won't be a subaru.

Well what happened with my subie yesterday. Started out at MAP on wed picking up my new BOV, I brought it back to my dealership and wanted a tech to put it in because MAP was to busy and I was only on my lunch break. Shortly later the tech comes up and says you have to weld this one in???? I was like f to the no and called MAP starting at 2:30 consistantly on the half hour mark until 5:30 and the response was always the same hey I'm busy call you back in 10 mins, never ever receiving a call back even the next morning. Then I went to Morries Subaru yesterday to get a brake positioning senor adjusted "service bulliten" and they said they couldnt due to wires under the passenger seat not from the factory "aftermarket amp". So I headed up to St. Cloud Subaru where they laughed at morries and fixed my issue THANKS GUYS awesome service department even gave my boy a sucker and bs'd with me for a while it was nice. Now to have my new BOV installed on the car so I went to DB performance in rogers being a lil ticked off at MAP and they said the one I got from MAP on wed was the completly wrong one. Which I figured hence why I called them just wanted a second opinion. Well crap here I go back down to plymouth and they have the "correct" one in stock. But to busy to help me out and install it to make sure, so back to db where Shane said bring it right in be more then happy to help you. I bring it back and head to Maynards for a beer and bam get the phone call wrong one again. Must be really hard to read a part number. So now just straight up ticked off I told DB to order the correct one and my intake and might as well do the tune at the same time for next Thurs. Told my buddy the story and he was like how much is your tune I told him $350 for 4-6 hours of dyno time and tune. He is now going to DB as well. So in other words Morries subaru doesn't like warrenty work, MAP can't read a part number or dial a phone, St. Cloud Subaru 5 stars and thanks to DB for showing a newb the correct way answering questions and earning the business of me and my friends.

brooklyn park morries sorry. What happens is your traction shut off light comes on, hill rollback assist light and abs light all at the same time. Also there is another service bulliten out for check engine light, traction shut off light and cruise control light flashing. All are cold weather conditions due to the brake sensor.
