added a Perrin strut bar and did the red tail light overlays. i never did like those clear tail lights. this is my 2010 STI. probably never see any track days or autocross, but i still think it's cool anyway. those overlays are a real trick putting on. fortunately one of my sons owns his own graphic business here so he did it for me. ya, i haven't had any real desire to put a different wheel on it. seems i remember someone on the parts forum had a set of those for sale. i think he was asking like $1400 for them with the tires.

Downside is that they're extremely heavy. Hence the nickname "boat anchors".

guess i wasn't aware that they were a particularly heavy wheel. maybe i should think about a set of aftermarket wheels. i've looked on Ebay before and liked the looks of some of the XXR wheels. they were pretty reasonbly priced too. my son always rags on me about getting a set of the BBS wheels for the STI. can't spend that much money.

whats considered heavy? suppose it is relative...

my 18's on my other car are :eek:29lbs... 17" wheels I'm looking at are 17.3lbs,,, thats a lot of weight to lose :)

Picked up my tires and swapped over to summers today. If it gets cold again, can just drive the Outback.

Federal 595 RS-R - 235/45-17. Don't have any 235 to compare them to, but I feel like they run a touch wider.

Federals on the left, Dunlop Sport SP 01 (225/45) on the right.

Holy ****! Yeah, that's heavy, period. Nothing relative about that lol. I have some cast ("flow formed") 18x12's that are lighter than that... by 6lbs.

    Nice GS HS :D

Big thanks to MNTK Subaru Parts Department. Saved me a good chunk of money on parts for my 60k service. Now I have a few projects to keep me busy while on call next week.

Maybe I'll pick up a couple cans of Plasti Dip too.

He already has wheels the same width. The '11 WRX can fit 265's under the fenders with that wheel size :)

Right now I'm running XXR 522 18x9.5 +38 with 265/35/18 Kumho XS track tires. So I'll just put them tires on the rota's.

Pulled the R160 and started on my hybrid axles. Gear oil was still clean, wish I would have had everything to do the R180 swap when I put the 6 speed in initially.

New stereo for the 4runner, started de-winterizing the 911, and farted in the Subaru... I suppose I also sharted in Josh's Subaru today as well. Too much car time for one day anyhow.

How do you like those tires? How do they hold up after 10-15minutes on the track?

I have t had a chance to try them out yet. They ride really nice on the road and are quiet also. I'm happy with them so far.

Edit* I'm back on the ground again!
I think this is the first time I've parked the sti next to the truck, gonna be different for sure.

Nice. Good to hear they are comfortable on the road. I was deciding between those and the ad08s but went with the yoks. Might try the kumhos next. Tread pattern looks really aggressive and they actually make them in a size I want. Thanks for the feedback.

I painted my wheel chip, finished evap system delete, painted the bare spot under hood by cold pipe, installed header, changed oil, plugged radiator hole that won't be used, put new tail lights in, made a couple fuel hoses, charged the battery, and mounted the fpr. I am am really hoping to drive it to M.A.N. in a week.

Installed new Nokya fog lights... and attempt #1 was made on the Grimmspeed heat shield... fail. Accidentally cut a hose...replaced the hose.. went in for a beer in disappointment... Attempt two probably later on when I have regained some patience.

Well I walk the dogs.... and was still in wrenching mode.

I did my differential. However I needed someone to hold the funnel. So I created a person with a ladder and zip ties.

Currently on coat 4 of Plasti Dip on the emblems in the back.

Picked up toothpicks to clean out what I didn't tape off (too lazy).

Have you ever tried a lower unit lube pump from a boat to pump gear lube in, it works great for differentials, even fronts where the tie rod often blocks direct access to the fill point?

Fuji and Nuke also offered a syringe for the job. I just went with this method. Handed down from Turbo Turttle 30k ago. I think i spent like $5.

The pump is a good idea.

when I filled the front diff on my Wrangler I did it a couple of times with a similar setup, but it seemed that alot of gear lube would stay in the tube, the pump also easly stows in a quart ziplock

I have been doing a bit of research myself. I think I am going with the Q300. I am going to sell my SPT setup.... now I am just trying to decide if it is worth the extra $300 to get the quad tip STI exhaust or not.
