I ended up pulling and inspecting my fuel pump setup today. I was going to wait until after road racing this weekend at BIR. I stopped over at Nuke's house today to while I was out and about. When I went to leave my car acted up when I tried to turn it over. He suggested that I pull my fuel pump before racing this weekend. I am glad that he said something. The double o rings that I had were not the right size when I first installed it. When I pulled the fuel pump today it was very loose in the housing. Luckily someone from 3Gwrx had mailed me a bunch of o rings. I also noticed one of the internal hoses was not fully clipped. I disassembled everything and put it back together securely. The new o rings fit great. The fuel pump did not move a single bit. Next time I am going to make sure there is less gas in the gas tank :D. I may have lost a few dollars on the garage floor. As well it's best not to drive your car prior to doing anything with the fuel do to fuel pressure in the lines.

    Sounds like a mess.

Maybe it's time to get a wideband?

Yeah! Can you convince the wife it's more important than the "baby fund" .... because she doesn't believe me.

I called Nuke because when i took off the first hose it had some gas in it... also the nipple seemed to be dripping. I didn't remember that happening the first time. He suggested I get some towels because its still pressurized and if i don't let it sit for a few hours there will be more gas in the lines. Glad he said that... the last hose had quite the surprise for me. Luckily I had a clean rag in my hand in a fraction of a second to stop the gas madness.... LoL

I forgot to dremel out the 3 tabs on the new fuel filter. So I am going to have to pull it again after I dremel those out. Then swap in the new filter. I think I'll pick up a new fuel screen too. Mine was a lot dirtier than last time i pulled my pump.

Rubber gloves and safety glasses are a good idea when doing the pump. Also, depressurizing the lines helps a lot...

Got this at champps in New Brighton... The worst part is, that I hugged the other side SOOO tight because I parked next to my mom's car. Can't fend off the careless forever... Time for some PDR love...

Changed oil in preparation for BIR this weekend. Switched from AMSOIL to a special TSW blend made exclusively for BMW M cars. It's heavier and should give me some extra protection on the track. It's a shame such expensive oil will be drained out after the track on Sunday. However, it's better than a blown motor.

I also pulled my FP again due to a weird startup earlier this week (as advised by the wise one). Found that the FP was fine but a hose was off it's clip. I noticed this clip looked loose when i pulled it earlier in the week. After an inspection I pulled the O-ring from the female part of the connection. I put it on the male part and reinstalled. It seemed to fit nice and snug. This step was not done earlier this week. However, the hose doesn't sit 100% straight and the clip only holds on one side. (Pictured) I used a small ziptie to add some additional support, it worked great (not pictured).

Thanks to Will (BearsBeetsBattlestars) and Sheen I now have a much nicer sounding exhaust note. SPT axlebacks make the most wonderful purring noises.

Installed my pioneer 4400 head unit today. All went good and installed the AWSC as well to keep the steering wheel controls. Now I'll be installing the speakers and amp on Friday and I'll share pics then. :)

    Work in my sister's bugeye.

    Change the fuel filter
    Changed the differential
Sealed up the trunk, I hope ... she was getting water in the trunk and the weather stripping is brand new. Used some silicone, did two applications.

Next up for the bugeye... plugs and a tune.

Put my grimmspeed air/oil separator in tonight. Kinda bummed the online instruction video isn't very clear on the 2011 Pcv valve style and I had to run to the store to get a 1/2 to 1/2 fitting and 1/2 vacuum cap because they weren't in the kit. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1338514568.746246.jpg

Sorry. I got sick last week and plans got dropped. Today was sort of spur of the moment. We are going to do plugs still. Differential and fuel filter are easy. You can come over for plugs if you still want to.

No LAX for either of us. I am cabin bound and she had a new house she is fixing up.... like hard core everything ripped out and flipped. Way too much work for me :D

I spent a couple hours with some Brasso working on the SPT exhaust I just picked up.

It looks much better now than it did when I got it installed.

I'll try to get some up this weekend. It's not polished, but this one had some surface rust spots and some tar in addition to the usual carbon buildup in the tips. Will was upfront about it not being perfect and I wasn't too worried. It's pretty hard to permanently damage stainless steel.

Yeah, ss is a lot harder to polish (and blemish) than a soft metal like aluminum. Definitely use an abrasive compound made for ss and a drill or rotary. Cleaning is one thing but it would suuuuuuuck to polish by hand. But yeah, a clean exhaust with no carbon deposits means your car is in perfect shape and is worth twice as much. Simple science here folks.

100oct unleaded left my tailpipes white. I should run it through my fireplace to clean out the chimney.

Installed a GrimmSpeed air/oil separator. Have never had to add any oil, but i thought they look cool and functional to boot. I think the next thing will be a blow off valve. I read that they can improve throttle response and help eliminate turbo lag between shifts. Not really looking for big power gains cause the car is a hoot to drive the way it is. May go for a tune one of these days. IMG_0799.jpg

Cut the center section out of my STi grill and gave it a few coats of paint. I also gave the Hella's a fresh coat of red. 2012-06-04_21-02-35_38.jpg

Recieved a Nuke tune on Thursday, prepared my Defi Gauges and pod for installation (waiting on a couple parts), installed a new Optima Battery and Terminals to replace the dead and corroded ones I had and finally installed the Rally's on the car. Pictures to come once I finish the Gauges. :)
