Swapped out my summers for winter. It is amazing how the car changes when you add 2" of sidewall and take away 3" of width.

Just the front. I've had them on all summer.

EDIT: I put on the stock exhaust and stock wheels with snow tires yesterday.

Woah - going winter stock mode!

Yeah I am not full winter yet. They say never go full winter! ;)
Waiting on some graphics and then the snowboard rack needs to go on. Weather Tech mats need to go in... and an oil change!

Winter mode on the lgt. New winter tires (general altimax) and swapped the front and rear diff fluid. Retired the summer wheels for winter duty. She's been looking to do this for 3 years now after she curbed the summer wheels almost immediately after we got them. Looking forward to shopping for summer wheels:

Winter mode for the rx7 as well. Washed and waxed it. Also gutted the back half to prep for rust repair and fiberglass sub/speaker enclosure.

    old (summer) wheels:

REALLY old (older than a lot of people on this forum) wheels with old school winter ipike tires:

Even did some work on the 4runner. Didn't get around to the other cars though. Hopefully next weekend.

You'll love those winter tires. I really like mine.

Oil change on my car. Going to clean and put in the weather tech mats. Swapped winter tires. Cleaned the air filter.

Changed the oil on my sisters bugeye and swapped out the summer for winter tires. Cleaned her air fitter.

Yeah for the price they're hard to pass up! Hopefully the ice performance is close to the revo1s (older tech but still great on ice). They just have to get her to work and back (5mile round trip) though so I'm sure we will be more than happy with them. I don't think she realizes what she's getting into insisting on running the 5spokes in the winter though lol

Replaced broken (rock) fog light and fog light assembly. It took longer than expected.

DDM had both my clips backwards for my lights. The delayed the install... Troubleshooting, FTW.

Depo Lighting sent me the wrong mounting setup. Lucky for me i could separate the glass housing from the plastic mounting assembly. Again, troubleshooting FTW.

    Lights installed, i am happy.

EDIT - emailed Amazon.com and told them they sent me the wrong mounting bracket. I explained that I had to disassemble my broken setup to make the new setup work. I told them i didn't want to return the item because I could make it work. I just wanted them to know that they were sending out parts for a 2009 WRX that won't fit a 2009 WRX. They refunded part of my money. Customer Service FTW!

I finally got the chance and the willingness to install the 6 disc changer I got from SeanWilke. After an hour, I got it in and it seems to be working well.
    Installation tips:
    1. forget the top tray. There's no bolts under there that you need to take out and your sunglasses will fly all over inside the car.
    2. forget taking off the shifter and the shifter platform. You'll just waste time taking it out and figuring how to put it back correctly.
    3. don't yank out the stereo after taking out the four screws that holds the stereo in. There's 4 different wires connected to it: three in the back to power it and a flippin connector under the unit that doesn't do a thing besides piss you off because one of the rear connectors was already a bitch to disconnect.

Bought my straight pipe material with flange for $26 bucks today. Me and the seller derped and I got 2.5" pipe but that'll be fine as the slotted flange will fit and 3" down to 2.5" isn't a big difference for like 4ft of length haha

Got my winter Cooper tires mounted up, had some custom brackets fabbed up for my Hella lights, wired them up via adding pins on the Hella wires and plugging them into the stock fog light wiring (both use 15A), and did the mod allowing you to turn on the fogs regardless of whether your brights are on or not. Thanks to all the folks who helped out! Now I just need my Rally Armor flaps to come in and the wagon is all set for winter! Hella Spotters.jpg

Got a "Free" Oil change by Subaru Surgeons:)

Another shop I'll go to in the future for issues/problems

Anyone here that can unmount my current tires and mount and balance on my 4 winter tires for a fair price?

IMAG0221.jpg This was yesterday, but I suppose I will post it. It is still technically my wife's car, but I put WRX wagon springs on it with wagon front struts and new WRX sedan rear struts and 3/8" saggy butt spacers. The height looks perfect and the ride is very different..drives like a WRX ;)

Motul in the car. I'm trying out their 8100 0w40 motor oil for the winter, and I just tossed in some Gear 300 tranny oil. I've got some 90PA for the back end, but I don't have a wrench big enough to take the top bolt out :( It'll be nice to compare against Amsoil SevereGear and see if Motul's motor oil likes the cold or not.

A lot. :p It's around the same as buying some Amsoil SS 0w30 or something, about $10 per so pretty normal for this product range. Too bad Amsoil doesn't make a 0w40. I've used Mobil 1 0w40 too. For sport driving, it's just helpful to have that thicker hot viscosity to keep consumption down. I run 0w50 Eneos in my old 02 Forester with a well worn engine to keep consumption quite normal, but I can't use a 0w30 without drinking oil like Kool-aid during a sport event. I find the 04 FXT has similar tastes during sport use, so there's a desire to keep the high viscosity somewhat thick. p.s. I'm quite a fan of the Eneos 0w50, as excellent in the dead of winter as it is in the summer, broadest spectrum oil you can buy. However, I wouldn't needlessly scale my oil unless the need was there. If a 0w40 works well, there really isn't that need to go thicker.

So far, I do like the Gear 300 transmission fluid. It's only a mild 40-50F right now, but the transmission feels as it if was 80F outside starting and driving the car dead cold. I enjoyed the Amsoil SevereGear too, and it too felt great at these cool temps and retained good function as the temps plummeted. The Gear 300 stays thinner colder than the Amsoil Servere Gear, so I'm eager to see how it feels and shifts once the temps get really low. I've already done one winter with what was in there (likely Extra-S if I were to guess) which felt more like a normal dino with poor syncro action and some need to double clutch.

The Motul 8100 feels good so far too, but I expect that from a 0 weight oil. I have no racing over the winter, so I will have no idea how consumption might be when used hard. Still it'd be great to compare it to Mobil 1's 0w40, Amsoil SS 0w30, etc. for cold weather use. Technically, nothing really beats Amsoil's 0w30 for cold weather unless you wanted to step to a 0w20 to get something thinner.

busy week with the rally car, put in gas tank, TSSfab rear sub-frame, T bar and custom skid, 4.44 r180 in, got suspension hung at all 4 corners, all the arms mounted, Q-rack in on the front got the wiring laid out in the shell, ziptied the hell out of it, ran the fuel lines thru the shell, Ran all the new brake lines (took forever with rented O'rileys double flare tool), plumbed in the hydraulic E brake and wilwood proportioning valve, pressed in milled down 04 sti hubs into rear knuckles with new bearings so i can run 2pot disks with R180 rear and shafts. got all the calipers on with federo pads. got all the impact foam mounted up on the cage. windsheild wiper motor and arm assembly in. skid plate mocked up (much easier to drill holes with out engine and trans in the way) then its just spacers once its in.
