Thanks! It's Cosmic Grey. Darker than stock, lighter than a charcoal or gunmetal, with a pretty heavy metallic. http://www.prismaticpowders.com/colors/PMB-1756/

Picked them up after work today!

    Raced at rockfalls. Didn't launch to hard(1.9x 60ft) and got a 13.2 at 107mph.

With no launch(at idle 750rpm) it went 13.7x at 106mph, not bad for no launch

Didn't go all out like the last time and got 1.7 60ft, took it easier this time

I see a mid-high 12s at 110+mph if launched harder but no more drag racing for me.:) Just watching if I ever do go again

Yes, pump gas time and also my 2nd time ever drag racing and also my last. Just wanted to see what it could do. So driver mod would of helped with the time but the track was slippery so I took it a bit easier at the launch to not break anything hence the 1.9 60ft. 12.9 or 12.8 or so with a better 60ft

Mid 12s at best with a great driver as that's the average for a vf52 lgt on corn

Am I a great driver, no, average at best but I'd say I did pretty good for it being my 2nd time at the drag strip.

    (Last night)

Swapped out my HP+ pads for Stop Tech Streets. I love the feel of new pads. I also love the non existent sound from my new pads. The HP+ are great for the track but 40k of squeaky brakes really sucks. Its nice to ditch that noise and dust for my DD.

The hawks were going to be kept for track days.... however.... the fronts seem to be falling apart. The corners of both of my fronts are falling apart and they seem to be separating from the backing plate too. The pads look like they have 50% of their life left.... except for these issues.Thoughts / opinions?

I also found both front calipers had ripped boots. Looks like I need new calipers.

    They both looked like this....

Then came the fun part of the night. When jacking up the drivers side I heard a large pop. I set the car down, looked around and couldn't find any issues. I noticed a rip in the rubber of my jack pad (jacking point). I figured maybe it popped, air got trapped??? Jacked it back up and swapped the brakes. Then when doing the passenger front I notice a pool of liquid under my car.

I can't tell the color from where I am working. It looks like it is coming off the axle.... I start to think the pop earlier was something to do with my axle and tranny... feeling overwhelmed with that possibility, I decide there is nothing I can do to fix it. As well it is on the opposite side and I have to jack up that side to get a good look. So I finish putting on my front brakes. I move down to the rear pads, still trying to figure out what else it could be (in my head). I proceed to compress the caliper piston when I hear a noise from up front... it hits me. That's brake fluid. First I think... broken brake line? Then I realize the brake fluid is on that side. I finish up the rears hoping it is just coming out the top in the engine bay. Sure enough, I pop the hood and find Super Blue has spilled out into my engine bay.

Very excited that nothing else is broken I jump in my car and back out of the garage to hose down the engine now covered in DOT4. Now if you have been to my house you know that my driveway has a hill that requires good snow tires in winter (its steep). Guess what I forgot to do before backing up! So as I proceed to have a heart attack as my foot hits the floor when I push in the brakes I realize my noob mistake that is a must when changing pads. I try to pump as I am rolling backwards, but I wasn't fast enough. I pulled the Ebrake and come to a stop right at the bottom of the driveway. It was pretty awesome, I really scared the living sh1t out of myself.

Sounds like your day of working on the car yesterday was almost as awesome as mine! First off, I definitely hear you on the pads...my HP+'s on my STi have gotten extremely noisy (just like when I had them on the last saabaru). I'm used to tho...every time I people stare at me around town I just smile and think to myself "Race brakes yo!"

Anyway, my HP+ pads that I had on my Saabaru only lasted me about a year, but there was a lot of autox on those pads. I believe I inspected them once prior to selling the car, and they looked somewhat similar to yours.

I've heard people say that you should always remove the cap from the brake fluid reservoir when compressing brake calipers. I've never had an issue, but I will definitely be removing the cap and excess fluid in the future. For your ripped boots, couldn't you just replace the boots instead of the whole caliper? At the same time, I guess a new (WRX) caliper is only like $40 at advance auto.

As for my "woes" yesterday...I was happily changing the nasty old tranny oil in the Saabaru. While I'm under the car enjoying the stench, I realize some "gunk" inside of my driver side wheel. "Never seen that there before?!...." Upon closer inspection, I realize it is grease..."****, I've seen that on my last saabaru before." I inspected the axle boot, to discover it was torn, as I suspected. Then I recall a week ago when I was freeing those stuck strut bolts..."Damnit you idiot." Apparently I got a little too close to the boot when I was torching the strut bolts :banghead: Time to replace that axle!

On the bright side, I successfully installed the 20mm rear sway bar from an 02 WRX :D

New calipers? Just get new boots. (rebuild kit)
Dont throw the baby out with the bath water.

I pressure washed the new car, for 4 hours yesterday.
(yes, 4 hours) and sold a bunch of stuff.
I think I'll strip some more parts off the sedan later today.

Oof... I get a little nervous backing out of your driveway in a fully functional car. That would definitely induce some sphincter pucker.

Removed my font bumper to chase some squeaking. Put some u channel door trim stuff over the bumper support beam and I think it helped.

It still squeaks when you wrangle it with your hands, but hopefully driving will be a different story.

I've made that "note to self" not to fill up the brake reservoir before changing pads. I have also learned after years of brake jobs to pump the brakes before moving the car.
