Front driver coil spring and front swaybar broke. A very used set of 2004 Forester XS take off struts (whole assemblies) were cheaper (and far more hilarious) than new springs. 08+ Impreza 2.5i sway bar fits, with a bit of force:D Also did a full brake system flush while i was in there. It pretty much doesn't drive any differently. Probably needs an alignment...

No I used a fuse tapper that I bought from advanced auto parts. http://www.midterminc.com/media/Fhm200.gif
I also bought a spst momentary switch for a mute button and a couple of eyelet connectors from radio shack. All and all it cost me 10 dollars ish.

IDK how the v1's wires are laid out but for the x50
    yellow - mute
    green- ground
    red - 12v
    black - LED

I highly recommend going with the fuse tap for the 12v and an eyelet connection on the chassis for the ground. It makes it totally reversible and does not mess with the factory wires.

edit: i tapped fuse 4 (the cig lighter fuse on MY02 - MY07 wrx's) so it turns on and off with the car

It looks super clean and no stupid wire dangling in the middle of my car

    Here is my MSpaint rendition.

I didnt wire up a LED so the black wire is unused

    x50.gif

I mounted it just right of my rear view mirror. Tucked the wire underneath the headliner and the driver side A pillar down to the fuse box/under steering wheel cover. Grounded to the frame after taking some sandpaper to it to get good contact.

Ah very nice, thanks. Did you just use a phone cable, or did you order a kit?

I've been meaning to do this as I get sick of switching the radar from car to car lol.

Looks clean. Is it removable or is it like a spray paint that you'll have to touch up?

Took a 138 mile trip and averaged 28.7 mpg! Car said 30.0mpg when I pulled into my garage, but my calculations were different ofcourse., still not bad for a 3.6

It's a spray, my brother did the same thing to his car and he hasn't had to touch anything up and his has been on for over a year.

My family and I just got back home from Chicago. After close to 1,000 miles of driving I consistently saw about 19-20MPG when cruising on the highway (70-75MPH @ 2,600-2,800RPM's with the Spec B gears), but during the time spent in Chicago traffic I only got around 10MPG! My normal mix of daily driving is usually somewhere in the middle of that.

In the photo the readout says 68MPG, but it got up over 70MPG at times! I think it's around 3.5x the actual MPG with my current injectors and base pressure. For a nearly 600WHP car, I think that highway cruising at 20MPG (on E85!) is pretty good. There are cars with half the power that do worse!

MPLS to Chicago and back on E85 wasn't an issue with a little planning. The car was on the full 30-31psi (close to 600WHP) tune the entire time. At a steady cruise I think it could get close to 300 miles before being empty. Here are some shots from after 3/4 tank (11.6 gallons). E85 @ $3.50/gal was pretty typical for the trip.

20mpg is great for what you have done to the car. I wanna say my 2.0 wasn't much more than that in the highway.

Nice! But I must say that I'm not too terribly surprised - the trick is/was to keep it below 75 mph. When I picked up my STi in Vegas and drove it back I was only getting 19-20mpg...we were also going about 80-85 mph the whole time. If I keep it at 75 or below, I can get 23 mpg. I would imagine that your massive turbo doesn't spool much at low cruising rpm's either.

Nevertheless, that is still a very solid MPG for E85. Hope you had fun in Chicago too!

Yeah, keeping the speeds down helped. The Spec B 6th gear also gives me a little advantage.

Thanks Ben for driving me to Harbor Freight to get that air compressor part. Thanks to the shop for allowing me to take up the lift for the night.

Good deal, I've heard lots of good things about the StopTechs.
I'm tempted to step up from the HP+ to the Blues or something more for BIR

Well I had zero brake fad issues at BIR both times I went. Sessions were 18 - 35 mins. However, you may be a better driver then me... lol

Ben did get fade on his ST Streets, so I will swap them on track days.

Removed a corroded/snapped bolt from the A/C condensor, installed new seals, put a vacuum on the system, and then filled the A/C system. I now have a car with working A/C after going 12 years without A/C :)
