Stock sizes. Plus this won't be an end all racer. I want something that looked nice and adds a bit to the performance that I am looking for.

The battery finally died on the wrx so I replaced it with the wife's forester battery, then replaced the fozz with a diehard gold. Also found the leaking coolent and tighten that **** up. Great way to start the New year.

Someone left a tire skin in the middle of the highway tonight. It tore off part of my passenger side front end and ripped out part of the front passenger wheel well. God only knows what else it did before hitting the rear wheel...happy new years...

That's why we all need dash cams so we can post videos of ourselves throwing fits about stupid people. I was following a semi one day and watched 3-5 of his trailer tires blow out within about 2 miles.. He never even slowed down.

Not sure about the front end damage, but the fender liner shouldn't be too bad to replace. I've ripped out more fender liners than I'd like to admit doing AutoX. Just remember to buy replacement clips since you probably broke a few. Good luck.

Today (Saturday) I kicked the Legacy out of the garage and put my mother-in-law's 2010 Ford Escape in the garage. The 8 year old Optima red top has a hard time spinning the Legacy's engine when it is zero out - &$%#, it had difficulty in extreme cold when the battery was new. In anticipation of a high on Monday of 15 below zero, I have more faith in the Escape's 4 year old OEM battery (load tested just a couple weeks ago during a multi-point inspection at the Ford dealer). I have an appointment after work on Monday so I need a car that will start. Plus the Escape has a remote start - it's only FWD but I put a set of snow tires on it a couple weeks ago. The old style Escapes are as crude as they come...not impressive when compared to the current gen which my wife drives. Sorry Legacy...I am waiting for Diehard Platinum AGMs to go on sale.

Replaced the s**tty rubber fuel lines that run under the intake manifold and leak like a son of a b when it's really cold out. Apparently that's common on these and it's never been fixed. Holy hell did it suck. Pushing 6 hours and some serious frustrations but finally succeeded. These cars are definitely not big hand friendly.

On a better note, since I knew I was gonna be balls deep in the top end I figured it'd be a perfect time to order an intercooler hose set. Put that thing in as well this evening. Holy. Shiz. Thought that cool whistling like sound that I had before was cool cuz you could hear the turbo working and figured it was normal. Well, now I can't hear the turbo whining anymore but also pretty much doubled my boost. So obviously that whistling sound I heard was a massive boost leak. I swear this thing feels like it has twice the power now. Damn.

Also, noticed while I had things apart that I had a decent amount of oil on the inside of the input hose and also on the hose connections at the intercooler. Didn't have any on the intake side of the intercooler, but can't imagine that it's good. Is this "normal" or is there something going on that I should know about? Thanks much.

Go with another Optima? My 05 vintage yellow top is still running strong, no problems in the recent cold.

Ordered a new blank key w/fob for the Rogue, and got it successfully cut and programmed for the lock/unlock/panic etc. The only thing that is odd, is that the blade it self unlocks the door, smoothly slides in to the ignition and turns, but the car does not turn over when I turn the key. Is this a chip deal?

I'd bet yes. You need a programmed key for most cars today. They have a transponder internally in the rubber end. True Value hardware cut and programmed mine. That was in Prior Lake. They clone one of your current working keys.

I wanted to go with another AGM battery because I really liked not having to remove the battery and attend to the usual cleaning of the cable ends and battery associated with a typical lead-acid battery. However the Legacy is now 9 model-years old and I couldn't justify the $200+ price of a new AGM battery for a car I might keep only another 2 or 3 years. Since the non-AGM contenders (Interstate, DieHard, Durastart, and EverStart) all had the same cold cranking amp rating of 640, I decided to go with an EverStart Maxx as an impulse buy when I was in Walmart to pick up a quart of oil and some bulbs for my mother-in-law's Escape. The everyday price of the EverStart was $25 to $30 less than the everyday price of the others (the Interstate was out of the running right off the bat because of no built-in carrying handle...at least in their website photos). I would have used some Subaru Bucks and bought OEM, but they offer only one level of "quality" and it was 90 CCA less than aftermarket. The Optima (now 8 years old) always started the car, although on days with a high of zero and sitting out all day at work I had doubts because the Optima really struggled to turn over the engine even when new (I don't remember if the sticker on the Optima says 720 or 740 CCA).

Pretty sure you have to buy the oem one. It replaces the whole plastic arm. I'm not aware of an aftermarket one anyway. They are only $11-13 at Morrie's.
