Lucky! ;) Nice job. You should start a side business making harnesses/adapters for engine and drivetrain swaps, I bet people like @belalegosi could use that :D

My cousin got his baja back from the body shop, needed a hood scoop to cool his big intercooler!

Almost forgot to post pics of what we've been doing recently - @Sjogun did a ton of great work on my car over the past month!

Here's the JDM STI V7 intercooler, I forgot how much smaller the stock one is until I saw it again recently :bored:
The nice thing is that it bolts right up to the factory brackets! The only catch is that the AC hard line rubs a little, going to get that sorted soon with an STI line or something...
(BTW this was after I spent a couple hours straightening the fins out, which is a great job if you know someone who's very patient, has OCD, and excellent fine motor control skills)
    IMG_0631.png

And the matching STI V7 splitter, with spray nozzle - fits in the smallish 9-2X hood scoop (or 02/03 WRX scoop) just fine:

He also did a really nice job installing a Kinugawa braided turbo oil coolant line that I sourced, the stock VF28 hard line came out at a really weird angle (much more towards the front of the car compared to other VF turbos I've seen), and it was just about impossible to get a coolant line up to the fill tank without it getting crimped a few times. The Kinugawa banjo>barbed hose worked pretty well, the only thing that's a bummer is that it's regular steel and not stainless...
I was also able to do a bit of light fab work modifying my @GrimmSpeed turbo heat shield to clear the WGA arm on the VF28 - that sheet steel is tough on the GS piece! It broke my hand nibbler .
The end result doesn't look that impressive, but it took a fair amount of work with the dremel and hand files to make the curves look decent and not make the shield look hacked up:

Huh we didn't have to do that, but we only used the braided hose for the feed line and used the stock return hard line (after severing the two halves of the stock conjoined hard lines), maybe that's why... Is your braided line rusting at all?

Only place that has some rust was right at the swivel. It could be that the center on the vf37 is diff then the turbo that you are using

I am using both of the Kinugawa braided coolant lines on mine. I just put one on each side of the CHRA instead of both on the tranny side like OEM.

Yeah there's pictures a few pages back. I can't tell a difference. Got it more for build quality. The welds look fantastic and stock mount had pressed joints.

In a month or so I'll be getting my Killer B v3 headers I pre ordered.

Nf will install that along with ewg setup, Grimmspeed ebcs and a billet 20g.

    Can't wait.

I'm also putting money aside for a motor re build because mine will eventually pop. Nature of the game.

Finally got my E85 tune done at RS Motors today. Ended up making 310whp and 360tq. I was hoping for atleast 330whp, but it feels nice the way it is. If the motor holds up (knock on wood) then I may jump to a Dom 1.5xtr or something along those lines next spring.

I'm glad I noticed this post! I had the stumble really bad during stage 1, but I don't notice it at stage 2. I may buy this kit for when I have an EWG installed (just in case).

You on the original motor Josh? I was trying hard last weekend to cross the 250,000 mark before the motor came out. I was 800 miles short. :(

I put a tank of e85 in my car, man $2.27 a gallon sure is nice. Actually had to wait for a 335i to fill up first. He put in a fair amount and then drove up one pump and put in 91……

I've seen a few threads about this on various forums that this is NOT a good idea. People were saying the e85 would raise the octane rating but that it was on a 91 tune. Well e85 requires more fuel and the car is tuned for 91, i would assume it would be running lean. Either way i would never do this.

Also checked the dip stick, no oil loose and everything looked good. I'll be dropping the car off at NF this fall to the get Killer B v3's (pre ordered), Tial 38mm, GS EBCS and Crawford AOS installed and tuned. Awesome time!!

The direct injection cars have had issues with their cam driven fuel pumps gumming up on straight E85 so a lot of those guys mix in pump gas to reduce the ethanol percentage. If done consistently, and tuned accordingly, it seems to work OK.

Well, with this there is good and bad.... On Saturday my fiance decided to rear end a truck totaling her matrix.... In it were my subs which I just installed into the subie. now I have 2 twelves to blow my ear drums, yay.

On another note I am looking for another car now. Thinking of giving the 2.5i to her and using the money she got to get a wrx. Have around 7000 to play with so if anyone sees a lower mileage wrx for around that price please let me know .

Last week I added rice, this week I added rice.

But in all seriousness, can't wait to get some properly sized tires for a 10" wide wheel. 225/35 is a little toooo stretched for me to even consider. 245/45 is better, 275/40 is way better.

FYI, the root of the stumble issues are the fuel rails, not the fuel pressure regulator. I've done a fair amount of research, talked about it with Nuke various times, and experienced stumble on some tunes, not on others, etc. The only thing that truly solves the issue seems to be the rails. I haven't gotten different rails yet, but eventually.
Nice, I've always liked the XD9's!

I swapped the 08 STI rails for my stock 02 WRX rails and Nuke said the lean spot in the 2,500rpm range went away.

I did notice that the fuel delivery sequence is different between the two sets. On the passenger side the 08+ flows front to back, instead of back to front like on the GD.

A 245 will still be stretched on a 10" wheel. a 255 will give you a great fit, the 275 will start to get a little pinched. I hope the 225 is just a test fit, that looks just plain awful...

Hate me cuz u aint me son.

Yeah haha those 225's were the previous owners tires, WAY too small for this car, even his car in my opinion. I'm going to need a bit of stretch to clear my fender safely, luckily a 245 doesn't look too ridiculous on a 10" wide wheel, still noticeable but not bad.

Took a guy for a test drive in the 04 RS. Think he's going to be taking her home tomorrow. I then spent the rest of the night swapping shoes between the RS and the WRX. The WRX now has gold shoes and is looking pretty damn good. Though she needs a wash...tomorrow.

Oil change w/ T6, balanced the summer tires, fixed the negative terminal's looseness, and gave it a nice wash. Hooray for dead workday!
