While you and @Curry fight squirrels, I'm going to swoop them with anyone noticing. :p

Picked up my STI from NF this evening. Got the Killer B v3 headers, Tial 38mm EWG, GS EBCS and Crawford AOS installed and tuned.

I've been running e85 for most of the year, it peaks at 21PSI but tapers to 14PSI by redline. Pulls hard but falls on its face.

When i picked the car up, the guys were rather exited and said it was "Fast".

Pulls very hard with instant response and pulls all the way up. Feels like a different car now.

I am getting a new MAP sensor since the stock one is just not cutting it anymore.

The EWG is very unique, very loud with the windows down but i kind of like it :)

    Thanks NF!!

I dyno'd the car at MAP a few months ago and it put down 321WHP and 356WTQ on a DynoJet, honestly doesn't matter what dyno you use as long as you continue to use it, to see progression on the same scale. So i do plan to head over there for some new numbers. Very interested to see what the improvements will be but i can feel serious improvements, so that's what matters most, right? :)

Matt, it would be interesting to see a before/after datalog to see the change in boost vs rpm from the headers/EWG, do you have an AccessPort to make a log? How do you like the EL header sound?

there are 2 brackets that bolt to the radiator mounts, connect to the main bar ( which is attached through the license plate holes) and then continue to bolt to the lower radiator support

its just a very basic proof of concept until i can get everything squared up and welded

Red was from previous owner painting the centers of the rotors red.

Nope, they were barely finger tight. We slapped them on there when we pulled the stretched tires off and never tightened them because the car was just "sitting". Well i should have remembered that BEFORE i started actually driving it. LOL

Have you ever heard of leaning from other peoples mistakes? Yeah, consider yourself learn-did!

Now that I've logged a few miles and put some decent tires under it I have a better informed opinion. Much more balanced than I expected, although my expectations were very low going in. This CVT is the first Subaru transmission I've driven or owned that doesn't feel like an absolute pile of ****. Power was never a part of the purchasing decision. Don't want power in some tarted up econobox. I want it for economy and cargo space for trips I don't want to take with the 4runner. It is doing a very fine job of providing both.

Unfortunately the logs i had from before i deleted but i do have the dyno log from MAP. I'll get on the dyno again and post up both for us to compare. The sound is definitely different but is hard to get a listen with the stock MAP sensor not working, so when i get a 3 bar sensor in, i'll be able to open her up. I did notice more back fires, not a lot but there is more lol

I'm glad i went with the Killer B's!! We'll have to get together one of these weekends.

You did this at a snowy rallyx 5-6 years ago too. Some venue up north that we only used a couple times. Driving the blue car home and needing to pull over on the hwy bc thumpthumpthumpthumpthump. Dont remember a whole lot other than thinking you had a death wish!

Cool, thanks for the update. I def wasn't talking about power as in, is it peppy and fun to drive! More as in is it such a huge lack of power that it is painful to drive.

After driving my gf's 11 outback with the cvt (esp in the mountains), I've learned you just always have to give it way more gas that a normal automatic to get it to do what you want.

Coincidentally, I'm currently traveling and have a new Altima with the cvt... This thing is painful in normal Drive! The second you lift ever so slightly, it cuts power big time. D-sport helps, but probably kills mom's. Or mpg's. Damn auto correct.

My only gripe with the cvt is the fake shift (pause) between simulated gear shifts. You can keep the gear ratio where you want it with the fake paddle shifters. Doing that may or may not have made the loops up and down the southern most stretch of snelling much more "fun." I drive a 90hp rx7 when I'm not driving the 4runner so I know nothing about this "power" you speak of. Honestly I think this trans would do better in a rallyx compared to thd 4eat and potentially the 5eat. Only bc you can pick a "gear" suitable at a lower speed that doesnt engine brake or upset the balance on throttle lift like 1st gear does in the 4eat, 5eat, 5mt, and 6mt. Its also about goddamned time a subaru econoturd consistently gets 30+ mpg (mixed) without being ultra conservative with the throttle.

One other really small detail I like are the subtle changes to the interior materials (feel and look). Things like the fake brushed center surround is much less 80s and the rubberized dash feels good and doesnt glare. Its no flocked dash, but subtly better. Gauge cluster is much easier on the eyes as well. Although the difference between the impreza and sti gauge cluster still feels like a half assed shortcut (for the sti) at least the impreza doesnt feel 10 years behind its competition. In short, pretty decent for a jack of all trades master of none car.

The altima cvt def takes some getting used to. Have you driven a camry hybrid? Or really any cvt hybrid? Talk about laaaaaaag and hesitation.

Yea, I always thought that Subaru interiors were pretty spartan. My leggy is the first that I think has a decent interior.

+1, definitely a jack of all trades, master of nada. Tough to be 30+ mpg's and awd though now.

I haven't driven a hybrid yet, nor would I like to!

Installed the Samco y pipe kit today and Lamin X yellow fog covers.. Not too bad of a job, just the bpv hose clamp on the turbo inlet gave me crap. Of course it was upside down:rolleyes:
    20141028_155719.jpg

Throttle response seems better and it feels like it pulls a little smoother now. Unfortunately, the whoooing noise I thought was a boost leak is still there. I hope my turbo isn't going. On that note, had the usual oil blow by but i'm wondering if this is more than usual for these cars.

Lil' photoshoot and an alignment after dialing in ride height with new wheels. No longer rubs at all EXCEPT full lock, turning left hard there is a small rub on the inner fender liner.

new winter set up! I went with the Michelin Ice Xi3 this time. I've been a Blizzak fan but I do a lot of highway driving now so I thought I'd give them a try. also downsized to a 16 inch wheel. drives pretty nice.

Thankfully that was before. I can't believe how much water was in there. When I pulled out the lamp, I could see where that foam/gasket was letting the water in. My guess is that it was pinched when it went back in a few weeks ago, causing it to shift just enough to let the water in. I wish I would have made a video of the water pouring out. Now it is better secured and tightened down good. If it still lets water in I will probably order new gaskets and use some strong adhesive to get them to stick properly.

replaced the cracked badge on my grille today with an Impreza badge. Looks alright, it's too shiney compared to the rest of my car hehe.
I'm going to be ordering a new mounting bolt for my grimmspeed plate holder before the snow flys so i can use it again.

Figured out which fuel rail connection was leaking and making the engine bay smell like a small-town gas station on a hot day... Now fixing it isn't going to be quite as easy unfortunately!

I payed to have it done, so i couldn't tell you from experience. But from my understanding you need to use acetone/fingernail polish to remove all of the green film from the back of the gauge cluster. Then you put a red or blue film back over the clear and add l.e.d light strips.

I'm sure that there is a write up somewhere for it.

Yes. I looked it up on YouTube. It doesn't look to hard. Just time consuming. With that being said how much did it cost you and where did you have it done?
