Did my first oil change on the BRZ and put 5w30 in it. Then realized while screwing the cap back on that it was supposed to be 0w20. Lmao. First time ever changing oil in a car with a filter on the top of the motor. Pretty convenient! Weird, but convenient. $13/quart for the oil and 5.8 quarts is pretty spendy! Around $70 with the Valvoline oil and an OEM filter from Subaru.
You will just get worse gas mileage this oil change not the end of the world. Alot of people that race these cars put in 5w-30
Same here, obviously. I think the bit of gold peeking out from through the wheels looks awesome. Better than the new acid yellow calipers. While they do look nice with certain body colors, they draw too much attention, IMO. Gold draws some attention without being outright gaudy.
I love me some neon colors, but even I don't understand what the hell they were thinking on the new ones. Just does not fit...
Didn't really "do" anything, but I did get this basket for $60! The highway whistle hums me right to sleep.
Finally got that damned bearing race out, tried heat/cold, tried rotating it to loosen it, finally ended up having to just cut it. Almost done getting everything bolted back together, still going to change my rear diff fluid while it's in the air. Also finally replaced my shifter linkage bushings in the process and it feels much better, smooth and no play at all. Should be able to take it out for a test drive tomorrow so wish me luck!
i used the 3M headlight restorer kit on my 99 Outback, who's light lens were so faded i could barely see driving at night, and was AMAZED at the results! they look virtually new now...the best 23.99 i ever spent
I just used that same kit on my dad's 02 WRX, and love it! I had used it years ago with @ofspunk7 on my WRX and remember being quite impressed then too. So gratifying!
Took the bugeye for a test drive after finishing the center diff replacement and everything seems to be working properly . No more grinding noise, whining is quieter, and tight turns don't bind it up anymore. Between that and the shifter u-joint bushings I replaced it feels much tighter and more responsive. Forgot how much fun that thing is to drive on twisty roads. Had some minor smoke from under the turbo after it heated up but I'm hoping it's just residual grease from a CV boot that split on me a while back and made a bit of a mess. Now I just need to replace my lame battery and I'll be all set for the LaX cruise.
Yea I figured I'd get the collector plates to force me not to daily drive this thing and just enjoy driving it once and awhile Plus how cool is it to have a Subaru with collector plates
Sold my STi to someone in Virginia on Friday, and installed a car seat base in the WRX on Sunday for the rest of the week. Flying out to Washington on Friday to drive home an FXT.
Are they not strict on the "Vehicles registered in any of the collector classes are restricted to operation solely as a collector's item and cannot be used for general transportation purposes"? I know they go over quite a bit when you get the plates its only to be used for car shows/taking to the track/sunday drives type thing not to be used to and from work or general running around.
Nice that they put the correct STi scoop on one for once! Usually people put the 2004+ on those and call it a day. Really clean looking!
I take my 1974 BMW with collector plate (rear plate only) out all the time. Any day of the week, all over town. Never been hassled.
Over here in WI you just can't drive with collector plates in January, but you can pay $5 for a temporary pass to drive for up to 5 consecutive days in January if you need to. Kind of an odd rule but I guess it makes sense.
After having to replace my WRX battery a second time because of it dying from neglect (rarely get a chance to drive it and garage it all winter) I finally installed an onboard battery maintainer. I just mounted it onto the side of the battery bracket in the trunk, wired it into the terminal clamps, and ran the cord into the spare tire well. I installed a weatherproof power port meant for RVs and campers in the floor and sealed around it. Not sure I'd recommend this for a car that's daily driven in the winter but I think it'll work nicely for me. With it like this I can keep the extension cord plugged in without having to leave the trunk open.
Got the Forester back today! Had it in for front and rear differential fluid flushes, and to replace the gear selector which started to click rather loudly when I stepped on the brake. Most importantly, finally got the STi steering wheel installed! Had a 2018 Outback Limited as a rental - really enjoyed the tech upgrades and the new-car feel, but it's always good to be back in the FXT!
What is your dad going to say when he gets home and finds out that you swapped out his steering wheel!? HAHAHA!!
Finally got around to swapping out the fuel level sender on the wagon so I can rest easy on Saturday knowing I actually have fuel
Good call haha it's just a goofy angle! I used sparks purchased from the dealership (for way more money than needed, I know)
Some exhaust work on my GC. Ebay UEL headers, Stromung single tip catback. Stromung hi flow cat on the way.
Friday: new battery and air filter in the wife’s Rogue, then found the WRX battery was dead so did a battery in that, and then for the grand finale put on the Nameless Muffler Deletes on the FXT.
