I got a little something for myself. I also ordered a fuel pump hardwire kit along with the DCCDPro FuelPro. Now I'm just waiting for IPT to respond to my email so I can order my high stall
Put on the summers after cleaning them and the snows for storage. Silverado is close to Subaru, right? I mean both begin with S and in a vowel. Changed the oil/rotated tires on that truck yesterday. 265/65R18...my God are they heavy!
This past Friday finally swapped out the winter tire set to the warm weather set with brand new rubber. Bought new Michelin Premier LTX from Costco for the Outback as they were on sale with practically free installation/tire disposal too. The stock Conti's that came with the car was down to the wear bars last fall (despite having something like 35k miles on them). Also had to replace a seized wheel stud on the driver's front. Impact wrench got it off eventually but took a bunch of threads with it. Had to buy a replacement stud and while I was at it bought a bunch of spares so I didn't have to run to the dealer without a functioning car (luckily my wife's car was available for me to use). For now I PB Blasted every stud and lug I've got then wiped them down. Will put anti-seize on later this summer (planning on replacing the pads/rotors sometime this summer). Last thing I did was try to adjust my headlights as they aren't aim correctly after replacing the bulbs last fall. This is the 3rd time of adjusting them and we'll see if I did it right (hard to tell since I can't get my car exactly level on jack stands and don't have the distance in my garage to 100% tell if it's right). I really want to punch the engineers' who approved the Outback design where you have to replace the bulbs by opening up the wheel wells.
Decided to do a full detail since we're finally coming out of the nasty winter months. I spent a ton of time pressure washing the underbody area, and got all kinds of gunk out from the wheel wells and engine bay. Gave it a quick wash, medium clay with water, prep wipe down with 50/50 70% IPA and water, fine clay with a clay lube, and a final quick wipe with the alcohol again. I wanted to be sure I got a perfectly prepped surface after applying a few layers of wax over the winter to protect it from the ridiculous amount of salt that's used around here! I'm a painter, not a typical detailer, so everything I use is body shop safe. That means it doesn't add any useless fillers to the surface. I just focus on pure correction and then protection over the work. I used a compounding pad on a DA polisher with 3M Perfect It machine Polish, polishing pad with the same polish next, and finished with a fine pad with Perfect It Ultrafine Machine Polish. I used Menzerna/Jescar Power Lock sealant, and Collinite 845 wax over that. It's a tried and true combo. Some doubt whether the 845 is really necessary, but I think it works great so I stick with it. Tire dressing is Chemical Guys Silk Shine. It's not specifically a tire product, but it's the only water based stuff I've found that doesn't leave a cheesy gloss shine, and works well for reapplication over itself without getting nasty. Then of course I had to go grab a few pics!
Adpater plate and flywheel for the ej22 arrived a few days ago. Test fitting for the engine support bar can now happen.
Two flat tires on the way home from work. There was a road work sign blown down laying in the road around a blind corner. Didn't ruin the rims though.
AP came in the mail today, so I'm Stage 1 now! Hopefully that gets rid of my codes for my STi catback.
Replaced my front Wheel Bearings, CV Axles, and took off my stock Turbo Inlet to install a better one.
Same here. I'm having a hard time with the ambition part when I don't know if I will be alive 6 months from now.
He should have added battle armor and a turret machine gun for when the real nastiness of the pandemic arrives.
I got some new Michelin Sport 4S put on, the stock Dunlops were on their last legs in the fall. Only put a few miles on them, but they feel great and are nice and quiet.
Got the WRX started for the first time this year on Saturday and drove it about 25 miles. Time to break in the new motor! Edit: Nina waves hello, and enjoyed the drive!
This may be a divisive mod, but I did some vinyl wrapping the other day. I've always been unreasonably annoyed with the two different "carbon fiber" patterned plastics in the Crosstrek.... I initially got some silver trim pieces to cover one of the patterns right after picking the car up, which helped but they glared a little and were kind of boring/cheap looking... So I decided to spice it up a little (it's my work car so anything I can do to make it more interesting helps) and wrapped the trim pieces...
Sure did. Yes but forever a memory, instead of too many memories to remember. On to something different!
I wanted to put the money into the mustang but work has my energy completely zapped, and I'm not that motivated to get going on it. I've been looking around and getting opinions today. The e92 m3 looks and sounds cool but zaps the Mustang budget. Then again, a 05+ mustang convertible would be cool too but a v8 costs too much and a v6 is too slow and sounds like garbage. Part of me would rather dive into an LS platform of some kind but I'm not a fan of older body styles and the new stuff costs too much. It's really hard to say im interested in any one thing. Though something classified as "cheap burnout machine" would work. I'm probably being too picky. I'm a little torn as there is also an option to pick up a obxt for a decent price... But I already have two (na) subarus (to fix) and feel like that's wasting my opportunity to try a different platform. In the end, I don't know.. I didn't think i'd get this far.
I'm assuming that it's like cars, where if you have the funds to have two, then get two? I asked the current GF and she said she will consider it now that we have the bigger bed. Somewhat related, I swore to myself I won't get married until the house is done and the Mustang has 600hp. Gf asked if she can buy the crate engine to hurry that up. I think she's trying to tell me something.
