Yesterday I replaced a front axle on my bugeye. I thought I was having issues with my brakes because it wasnt braking until I had it damn near halfway to the floor. Starting to clunk while turning which led me to the axle so I swapped it out with an old spare and boom, good as new. Wish I had discovered it sooner but I'm happy to have my car working normally again.
Yeah no that lasted about 5 days. The axle had nothing to do with the brakes and the axle I put in went bad real quick probably because the hub was gooched. Hopefully a new hub, bearing and axle fixes my issues.
I must have missed it somewhere along the way. Are you using a fiberglass-bodied kit (do they even still make them?), or is the whole thing gonna be home-brewed?
I have to do a fair amount of fiberglass repair on the body and dashboard before I can throw paint down. I'll probably fill the existing holes once i figure out what my tail lights and headlight situation looks like
Are you going to give it the super duper flake paint job? I always loved some of the crazy paint jobs on these types of buggies
No promises yet but i was thinking of doing a top layer of kevlar and doing metal fleck tinted clearcoat.
This looks exactly like my in laws boat. I like it. I've always wanted a guitar with this kind of sparkle.
80k BTU garage heater was installed today so I can now start working on some of the fiberglass prep for repair when I have 2 consecutive hours of free time. I'm actually thinking about doing my test repairs on the dashboard first since it's not as critical to be perfect (going to boat vinyl wrap it to make it mildly waterproof.) all in all I am going for either a cyberpunk look or maybe just a classic beach bum tiki look
Euro I gotta say your vehicle collection make me extremely jealous. The answer is of course sparkly dune buggy. Also anyone who is telling you to buy a boat is only doing so, so they can use said boat lol
I’m excited to get it back, and it makes for a fun story. The current owner, the guy I sold it to, and I have kept in touch over the years. It’s been well-cared for. I’ll part ways with my WRX and have the STi as a non-daily!
Had some free time at work today so I redid the tint... again... lol. But I added the windshield this time! A lot happier with the Xpel film I put on vs the spare dyed 3M film I used originally when I first started here. We'll see how well it does against the sun this summer.
Got her out of the garage today and she is seeing sunlight for the first time in a month. Didn’t have a tender on it, so the battery was nearly dead. Nothing a quick jump couldn’t fix.
Today I am driving my sweet sweet Subaru around my friend! Back down to Iowa on Sunday and back to the grind.
Did a quick 320/600 wet sand and some clear-ish coat paint in a can. End result seems better than expected for the effort I put in.
