Yes. My theory is that these tires were manufactured in 2011. That makes them old. Who knows how long the van sat at the auction house, or how long it sat where I bought it from. They had some cracks in the treads that I saw and determined that we would replace the tires by fall. Well, I think that water got into them and started damaging belts(along with potholes.) The broken belts led to the crazy mess that I just dealt with. Just glad that they didn’t explode on my 5 1/2 hr. trip home from Iowa.
Today, I worked on my brother and sister-in-law’s Forester. Someone backed into it. After some gentle massaging to the upper bumper beam with a ratchet strap and my BFH, I was able to get the new unpainted bumper on for them. What a pita. 2 1/2 hrs...lol. But we got her done and she is stoked(her car). if you zoom in the passenger side you can see how bent the upper bumper is. And this was how the bumper was packed up. They folded the side over and taped it to itself. WTH? I had to go under the car and zip tie the bent lower section up because it stuck down where it spent it’s time folded. SMH
Busy past few weeks. Was prepping for rally10k.com which was at the end of July. Blacked out the grille + emblem, deleted the intake resonator (looks like a gallon jug), installed the quintessential Hella (Sharptones) horns, cleaned up the headlights. Did the rally, car held up well. There's some great roads up near Duluth, Brainerd, and Virginia that we drove on. It'd be fun to do a a cruise with y'all. I mercilessly bugged @Krazylegz1485 to help me install my Whiteline rear swaybar, mounts, and Rallitek endlinks. Install went surprisingly well. Makes an impressive difference in handling, too. Thanks again Mr Legz.
Brought the wife's Outback in for an oil change. The new remodel here at Morrie's Subaru in Brooklyn Park is very nice!
If it’s anything like White Bear, I believe ya! They are really stepping it up. Just waiting for them to add a barista. Lol
Right inner/outer tie rod (torn boot). Didn't really need the outer, bought it just in case. Installed it since I was in there anyway. Buddy had an inner tie rod removal tool...man does that make life easier! Did the old tape measure alignment and she drives straight down the road with a perfectly aligned steering wheel. Bought the highest quality parts available from Rockauto and spent ~$90. Tried Morries first, but after the discount, they were ~$155.
Rockauto is a god send, I'm waiting on lower ball joint and oil pan gasket before sending it off for heavy maintenance items at jm.
That’s where I took it. At a Tuesday night meat. I asked them to wear their matching flannels. I guess that they didn’t get the memo.
It's not, the gel coat on the side pods is blue. Body will be white and silver, cage will be highlighter yellow
They are pretty big sticklers on the LED lights still. Understandably with all the knuckle draggers that throw them in reflector headlight housings. They will catch up eventually.
Suby is all shined up ready to sit in the garage for the weekend. The 2002 will be at Cars and Caves on Saturday morning.
Oh it was when cars and coffee was kicked out of the motorplex they immediately replaced it with cars and caves. I guess when you have tens of thousands of disposable income creativity suffers
I did a Google. The Fox 9 news article that I read says that it is “Cars and (man)Caves”. My understanding of “man cave” is the basement. But who knew, multi-thousand dollar garages with TV’s and wet bars are considered “caves” as well.
I bought a Nissan RE4R01A transmission and TX-10 transfer case 2022-08-31_01-50-54 by Numbchux, on Flickr Many people know that the phase1 4EAT is based on the RE4R01A. The output shaft from a Nissan version can be installed in the Subaru version. I don't really have a plan....but it had been sitting on marketplace for several weeks, so I tossed him a lowball. It occurs to me I have a parts WJ Grand Cherokee with a D44A rear and D30 front, and an Econoline 8.8. Maybe I'll turn one of these cars into a rock crawler.
Do et! I've always tossed around the idea of a lift solid axle gc/gd outback sport with a samurai style canvas trunk cover.
Finally got around to installing the GS TMIC I got from @lip. Also did a Perrin pitch stop mount and GS AOS. Thanks @Krazylegz1485 for the new-old BPV and helping me figure out the BPV hose bs. I also got new winter tires (trying out the Nokian Hakkapeliittas R5s) but I won't mount those for a bit.
Would it then be safe to assume that a man cave is essentially the same thing as a she shed then? Haha.
