Re-instated the insurance on the 03 (it's officially out of hibernation). Took a drive through the lake minnetonka loop. This is my first time driving the 03 for a distance over 20 miles. It seems a lot easier to rev match the 2.0 engine.

Finally washed it today, since it's been too cold for a while here... but as always, I'm not entirely satisfied with the automated car wash at Bobby & Steve's. Hmmm...

    Need to wash mine.

I put the 55w HIDs in last night. WOW. Amazing. Still a nearly perfect cutoff, too. I love the projectors (when they're clean)

Install went fine. The 55w plugs needed a slightly oblong hole in the headlight cup, but the grommet fit it perfectly once we used the dremel.

So far I'm really liking them.

I was NOT happy redoing a shops HeadGasket job on a '98 2.5RS DOHC engine.
I would rate this job as a POOR job. What I found drove me up the wall. I found lost bolts, nuts, loose and only threaded bolts, improperly installed bolts, reused old oil seals, BROKEN outer cam cap bolt, threaded aftermarket bolt. Basically the shop didn't replace what was bad on the engine. They did NOT inform the customer that the engine had leaky oil seals(cam, f/r crank, rear engine plate), needed to replace them with new seals, also bad timing belt tensioner, needs a new timing belt cover middle section and/or timing cover seals, valve cover gaskets, intake/exhaust gaskets, etc.

SO since yesterday 4pm until this morning at 8am, I was tearing this engine out and replacing it with headgaskets, seals, and putting it back in. I only slept from 9-noon today. I need to sleep after this..... I am JUST FINALLY eating LUNCH right now.

So yes, that's what I did. 16 hours straight working on this job. The customer now knows what quality work is.

Hey michael. Let me know when you are coming down to RS for your tune. I live about 5 minutes from there and wouldn't mind seeing your beast when it is done. Or if it is going to take some time you could probably come chill over here during that.

It's his Brother in-law's "brother in-law." I'm not sure if it was the "brother in-law" who put it together, maybe another "mech" who works with the shop. I'm not going name the shop because I know that none of you would bring your Subarus there.

The engine is only put together as good as the person who's doing it. I'm not blaming the shop, but the person who put it together. I was able to loosen the head bolts with my 14" regular 1/2" ratchet and 14mm 12pt socket. I have NEVER been able to do this is any other Subaru engine I have taken apart.

I installed a turbo inlet on my 2003 wrx and oh my god it sucked! I gotta do the ic and tb hoses tomorrow. I also replaced the two sections of fuel line that were recalled and leaking when cold, I hope it'll solve my problems.
