You laugh, but they're actually work pants that were turned into shorts. Because it's damn near impossible to find shorts long enough in the store that don't look ridiculous. I'm not one of those shorts-above-the-knees guys.
Put the snows on the wife's Saabaru last night, just in time for the sh!t show today. Pulled out the snowblowers and got em gassed up as well.
I tossed on the winter tires yesterday, luckily I had the day off! A few weeks ago, I plastidipped the crap out of the winter rims, front face and underside. They are just black steelies, but I didn't want them turning into rust, like those kind of rims tend to do with the slightest rock chip. So, we'll see how it holds up. Looks pretty good being matte instead of glossy black!
Me either Mark. But now I’m trying to get the 8 year old into it. If she bites, I may not have to change my tires at all any more
Thanks! Lamin-x is where I got them. Way easier on the larger flat lamps, vs my 04 wrx which had the small convex fogs. I always liked the contrast in the snow.
Looks nice. I've been contemplating getting some steelies for winter. Cause I ain't buying summer wheels anymore.
Both cars all cleaned and shined up today. And replaced the rear wiper on the Outback for the first time.
Clean cars make me want to stay home so I feel I get my money's worth from the car wash for at least a few days. Might go out only on Goldilocks days - no precipitation and temps cold enough that there is no snow melt running across the roads. Of course my wife thinks nothing of getting the car washed for $12 when there is snow in the forecast and she "has" to go out the next day.
Remember this car? The one that caught on fire on my way home from buying it? I sold it about a year and a half ago. Look what's on FB Marketplace 2022-12-03_08-40-44 by Numbchux, on Flickr Says it needs a transmission. Someone actually took the time to scrape all those badges off. And looks like it got drifted into something.... I'm tempted to lowball them.
Pulled it out today to get it up to temp. Still on summers, so I didn’t go anywhere (no balls). I don’t think that she is going to make it this year...
Hood keeps popping open while driving, fighting the urge to install the aerocatch latches on my shelf. Hood itself isn't showroom nice so I'm torn.
Took a load of scrap the other day. Towed my 1000lb GVWR utility trailer behind my Outback, which I think is rated to tow 1500. And offloaded 1560lbs of scrap.....oops. Sucks that it was worth a third what it was worth last year ($40/ton vs $120), so I basically got a free tank of gas out of it.
Well...yea. This transmission is not too happy, either. Luckily I can take all back roads from my house to the scrap yard, so I can drive very slowly. Complete Iron Duke 3.0 marine engine, small block chevy V8 block, and some sort of FWD GM V6 shortblock (all found in the woods, here. And "harvested" by my Taco. As well as most of a Nissan RE4R01A transmission (except the output shaft). And a bunch of other $#!+
Well mine are currently all dead minus the Saabaru, so... Haha. I have made some progress in the garage on my motor swapping operation recently. And also sounds like I might have a suitable replacement lined up for the Forester as well. Yeehaw! Saw this guy tonight on 65, heading south around Ham Lake area.
Mine still hasn’t hit 100k. Hard to when I only back it out of the garage and pull it back in. Hibernation
Eh, I'm struggling with what to do when I actually get my car to-do list done. I only have the Fastback and dunebuggy left and both are nearly ready for spring to drive around (Dune buggy is for sell anyways)
Replaced left headlight bulb in 03. I have dozens of old bulbs, most of which were scrounged in junk yards while looking for other parts. The potential upside was worth the effort until I needed one last week for this since all were dead. Walmart had the answer.
Headlight bulb is also “something”! Is your honey still enjoying driving it? Or has it become your daily?
Is your honey still enjoying driving it? Or has it become your daily?-still loves it! I have zero chance of getting that as a daily...zero.
Swapped turbos between two of the 3 motors currently being worked on in the garage because I found a jacked up bolt on the one that came out of the parts car I got. This motor was hopefully going to just go straight in, but of course it's never that easy. So swapped turbos, the AOS, and the one OEM exhaust with catless uppipe setup I had here, in preparation to finally get it back in. Also cleaned and lubed the TOB situation. So satisfying... Haha. Got it back in, bolted together and back in place.
And the sonic yellow bugeye is one of the cheapest! $4 dollar bucks! Rick, have you ever seen the phenomenon of “car culture lapel pins”? It’s nuts! And the money that some of them cost is crazy. https://leencustoms.com/
