Well put stock mufflers back on today, it's so odd now. Also big shout out to minnesotanice, he's really welcomed my kid into the mix. He's 16 and going through some stuff. He just moved in to my place from his mom's today and minnesotanice has got his interest in cars rekindled. Hell today he asked to help me put my mufflers on.
Oh boy, so I guess even with stock mufflers I'm still waking up my coworker lol, like can't get much quieter
I thought you said neighbor before. This is getting a little weird. Haha. Also, he sounds like a real gem...
So, you live next to a coworker who works a different shift than you, or you sleep with your coworker who works a different shift than you, or your coworker sleeps at work and you wake them when you leave work to go home, or there is yet a different scenario I haven't thought of.
Different shift, I work at 4am they work at 7am. We work for Walmart so lots of different start times
I'd put the straight pipes back on and tell him "you 'pposed to be up cooking breakfast for somebody, so that's like an alarm clock".
Took advantage of Father's Day and finally being done with kid's school and oldest kid's graduation party to finally give the WRX the first real cleaning and ceramic coating. Reminds me again how ****ty the paint is on the Subarus. My <4 mo old WRX shows more paint damage than my 6.5 yr old Chevy (running boards excepted). Once I created one clean spot I had to go wash the Forester and the Colorado too.
Cerakote ~$19: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B94G13CN Thoughts? Easy to apply. Can't really say more now since it's the first time (in a long time anyhow) that I've done a ceramic coating on a car. Had the last (2016) WRX done professionally when I bought it along with PPF, etc, but regretted the cost when I sold the car after such a short time. This was like 30 minutes of easy work and a tiny fraction of the cost, so it won't take much to make me happy with it.
If Subaru was smart they'd take advantage of the "widebody" stanceboi crowd and just make those god awful plastic flares in different sizes. That way they wouldn't have to ruin the car with sheet metal screws, they could just swap out the plastic flare pieces.
I have never ceramic coated a car. Based off of YouTube, it doesn’t look too tough. And only takes like 20 seconds to do the whole car…
I've used both the Hybrid Solutions (the Turtle Wax product) and Griot's Garage Ceramic 3in1 Wax ( https://www.amazon.com/Griots-Garag...&hvlocphy=&hvtargid=pla-4584138872018686&th=1 ). Both are the spray-on type for the amateur rather than the pro stuff that is applied carefully in parallel streaks with a little sponge. I like the fact you can get it everywhere (black trim, glass, chrome, your nut sack, etc). I liked them both better than the old fashioned carnauba wax or the old paint sealants (like Wolfgang). I have been claying ("synthetic clay" from Griot's) before applying anything for probably 20 years now.
I use the hybrid solutions. Love it. Super easy to put down and lasts a long time. Plus it doesn't turn plastic stuff white (or a different color) like wax does. I also use it on exterior glass. Threw away all my rain-x stuff after the first time using it.
Yeah, I hate how awful that cheap plastic looks when I'm driving the car and can't see any of it. Every generation of the WRX has been butt ugly, except for the VA, which was so generic that it was entirely unremarkable. It's part of what makes a WRX. The wheel arches are nothing on the giant diaper rear end cladding with factory installed butthole.
Obviously I understand what you're getting at there, but with that train of thought you could just drive any generic sh!t box because you can't see the outside of it when you're inside driving.
Finally getting around to the brakes. The old fluid was pretty black so I'm working my way around bleeding the system out and then started replacing the fronts. Got the "fancy" upgrade...
Put on a tsudo cat-back on my va wrx today. Yeah I know it's not a big name but my tuner said not to push my car after I put the factory mufflers back on, and I could afford this. It's a full 3" and kinda a knock off of the grimmspeed cat-back. I only paid $380 shipped. Finish was good, and fit was decent. Needs some slight adjustments still. I'll get some pics tomorrow and try to get a sound clip.
