Koyo ftw! Good to see that you are putting some miles on the bugeye!

When I replaced the radiator in my bugeye from stock to an all alum aftermarket it actually cooled to well in the winter and I had to toss some cardboard in front of half the radiator to help it get up to temp quicker. Without it when you would get on it in cooler temps you could watch the coolant temp drop on the guage.

The trick is to remember to take the cardboard out come summer. Don't wanna talk about it...

I don’t think the bugeye will be driven during the winter. Jus sayin

That GL is pretty close. And yes, there's definitely some rust colored areas on it. Most of them have that feature, actually.

Deleted the muffler delete and installed an actual exhaust on the BRZ this evening. Went with a fancy Invidia Gemini R400 stainless catback and really happy I did. Louder and deeper than stock but still not annoyingly so, very slight crackle on throttle liftoff and drone is almost nonexistent. Still need to tinker with it a bit to get the tips lined up just right (pretty common issue with these apparently) but most importantly it's much more pleasant to drive now.

I wouldn't be opposed to taking a drive into MN before the roads get snowy, and yes I think you should. Suits my middle aged gearhead ears pretty well and I'd be willing to bet your preferences are fairly similar. I don't know how many hours I spent listening to countless exhaust videos on YouTube before deciding on this one.

I had the Invidia N1 (Obnoxious drone especially once I put on the Ace headers). I removed and sold that and installed Invidia Q300 and loved that exhaust on my BRZ

I did look at both of those, seems like the R400 is sort of a middle ground between the two.

Did rear rotors and pads on the Outblack tonight. Had a little metal on metal action apparently so got that taken care of. Removed a couple god forsaken rattling heat shields up front and also swapped on the snows.

Swapped the worn shift knob in the BRZ for this 500g stainless steel beauty from Billetworkz to kick off the interior mods. Still planning to add a center armrest and replace the shifter/handbrake boots at some point. Sucks not having an armrest, the handbrake boot is torn, and I really don't like the way the "leather" of the shifter boot looks. Reminds me of a latex gimp suit or something.

Cleaning the interior of the BRZ a little as well as trying to tidy up my garage, spontaneously decided to do a quick little project. The center console bin/tray area just has a hard plastic bottom so I added a little padding and grip to it by gluing on a layer of this foam-backed black "suede" I had left over from the WRX headliner. Small change but I like it much better now. Will be even nicer to get some sort of lid over it though.

Swapped out the junk factory y pipe piece on the Outblack today for a hopefully not junk aftermarket Walker one. Fitment wasn't 100% spot on but good enough to make it work. Sounds so much better now. Factory Y's apparently rot out right at the crotch of the Y and it sounds ****ing terrible at low RPM, mainly when trying to park and move around slow.

Ordered replacement spring bolts ahead of time and they ended up being too long, even though that's what Rock Auto specified for fitment. Luckily I had one good one from the car still and O'Reilly's had one Dorman one on the shelf.

Also took off the "I Brake For Animals" sticker that came on the car, cuz fvck em I ain't slowing down. And the Subaru spirit badges (or whatever the hell the call them) because it said it was our 4th and we're all well aware that we're well past that mark. Haha. Even busted out the buffer to take care of the sticker ghosting.

The Subaru logo is a reflection of the badge in the masking tape I used to protect it from the buffing compound over spray. Thought that was pretty rad when I went to stick it on.

Also enjoyed a Bawls in the WRX on my way to and from O'Reilly's. Woo!

Both rear wheel bearings were going out and removing everything was going to be a PITA. Went on Rockauto, and got both rear hub assemblies, parking brake kits, and WRX struts on all 4 corners. I already had the '05 STi front lateral links, so I went to Morries and ordered the rears with hardware. I want to put a nice set of summer tires on my '04 STi BBS next year and see how it feels with good tires.

Nice. I should replace the rear lateral links on my FXT too. What's the benefit of the STi ones in the rear vs replacing with FXT ones? Got part numbers handy to share?

What car is this again? The Saabaru we have needs rear wheel bearings but I don't remember seeing them offering complete hubs that were ready to go. Hence why I said "f it" on that job for now.

I did a cup holder delete plate in my VW and put a wireless charging mat ontop of it to hold my phone. A breif search didnt turn up anything for the BRZ but this is what mine looks like. Just a 3D printed deal with a pull tab.

If you're talking about the FXTi ones, they're virtually identical. If just the regular FXT links, the '05 STi ones are aluminum with a thicker sway bar mount and spherical bushings. https://www.fastwrx.com/products/subaru-oem-lateral-links-2004-2007-sti?variant=40169432580184 I got mine from Morries but I believe those are the same price.

'04 FXT. Rockauto saved my ass lol.

Put the snows on the WRX last night. Was all stoked this morning to get out and see what she could do again, because it hasn't seen snow in two winters I think.

Hossed it out the driveway per usual and immediately knew I went too hard. Rather than do a 180 I just accepted the fact that I blew it and nosed into the ditch. Backed up and proceeded to try again. Haha.

Got about 10 miles into my commute and I noticed a weird rumbling sound, kinda like rumble strips or something. Road was cruddy so was hoping it was just that.

It kept getting louder. Then I noticed it would kinda go away under load. Almost sounded like an axle going out, even tho I just replaced that corner earlier this year.

Pulled off and checked the lug nuts. Front left had come loose somehow (torqued them all last night). Luckily the wife was up already so she ran the torque wrench and socket down to me (yeah, she's pretty awesome). Tightened them up and continued on my way.

Got to work and saw this from her:

    Screenshot_20231031-064550.png

I said "well yeah, clearly it was already loose and affected my handling".

Because of our water loss at our house our garage is still a mess. And because of that, it’s the first time that the BRZ has seen snow in two years! lol. And a big thank you to Cole @pleiades for dropping by on HIS birthday to bring a gift for me! I’m excited to hear the boxer rumble in my BRZ for the first time since I purchased it in 2017. I have been without rumbles for years! And now that the car is the occasional summer weekend runner, I think that I won’t mind the noise:D

    Now, to get it installed!

That's fair. Was gonna volunteer to bring it to and fro, but if you're parked for the winter might as well wait til spring anyway and save it from the potential salt dusting.

My weber carbs for my not-subaru boxer are on backorder again so I'm rebuilding the Tercel engine instead. Also did some oem plus upgrades from newer Toyotas like a Matrix steering wheel and a poor man's big brake upgrade using mx3 rotors and corolla calipers
