I welded an EGT bung into my new headers, then got underneath the car and used the crud thug and a scraper to remove a bunch of undercoating on the drivers side.

Tonight I'm going to work on wrapping the headers, uppipe, and downpipe.

Maybe next weekend I'll get to the passenger side undercoating.

Going to pick up new brackets tomaro, it needs to drop about an inch or so. And then the bottom brackets need to be welded on! Anyone have a portable welder?

I am also considering adding a 3rd mounting spot on the top, in the middle.

Put about 300 miles on today. 1 Full tank of gas. I found out that I can get down to 13.47MPGs and up to 30.5MPGs, with the 5spd, in the same weekend. (full tank averages)

Tossed the genome into a corner and installed Dave's old cobb catback. The verdict is still out on this one...

Metered the Hellas (2 pair). 106db at 30ft compared to Eli's stock 07 wrx horns that put out 87db at 30ft . Too scurred to meter them at 6ft to see if they can do the advertised 118db.

We're thinking the easiest way is to cut around it and weld in a new plate. looking in the muffler with some back light, it looks like there's a disco ball in there! Dave's FTL

Oh I got a phone call yesterday from the people who have my car,

    "Hello is this Chet?"
    "Yes."
***Bill makes fun of me for chewing my gum in the phone by accident so I spit it out.***
"I am just calling to inform you that we have dropped your car off to have the suspension work done."
    "OK"
***Bill is feverishly pointing out the window at this snow blower throwing snow off Pioneer trail***

I don't here a single thing she says till the end of the her sentence cause of Bill pointing like the sky is falling, when its just snow

"... do you have any questions Mr. Beireis?"
    "No not right now."
    End of conversation ...

"Alright Bill what the hell is going on outside?"
"Look at that thing throw that snow!!!"

    :rolleyes::rolleyes::laugh:

All in all I hope to be driving it again next week.

went to get it from CPD/GEM - we fired it up, it ran well until it reached operating temp and then it started knocking like mad! it was really bad sounding. Nate showed up, flashed a new map, tweaked it a bit and then it ran fine. timing had to be pulled back and fueling had to be added.

got the trailer from grimmspeed, brought the car home. Tomorrow it goes to RS for more tuning

That new map revision behaved nicer, I take it? Sorry I had to buzz out quickly, I had a busy weekend :(

If the whole timing map is going to take massaging like that, Ron certainly has his work cut out for him. :)

I didn't change fueling it at all, since all cars should really target 14.7:1 at idle and cruise. I removed around 5 degrees of timing all across and around the idle range, so I'm glad that solved the issue. Glad you're trailering the car to Ron's, though, as I can't promise the rest of the timing map wouldn't have spots like that.

Good to hear, though. Glad it was simple and not something with the build.
