Oil Change this morning. I don't think it's psychological that I can feel the difference with new lube.

Make sure you show up to Firestone around 8:45 tonight, I'm bringing free pizzas and dew.

There is no doubt yours is cooler than mine in every way.

It's your car, do with it what you want. That is really the fun part about it, right?

:eek4: Holy ****ing balls those are some headlights. I wanna see em light em up.

So you put just a new tip on and it noticeably lowered the level of exhaust noise in the vehicle? What about outside the vehicle? Quieter? Different note?

I'm just interested in various ways to tone down the noise of an exhaust while retaining the performance.

Well, I just had a muffler that was emptying about 4" in front of the rear bumper. (under the vehicle) The tip brings it out to the bumper. Similar tone outside from what I can tell.

Carl, are you sure you're man enough for that much light?

I checked the valve lash on my buckets. I might start to clean up the shortblock's deck surface for assembly. Or put my tranny in. Or strip my hood of paint and a scoop. Or start sanding. Or reinforce my rear swaybar mounts. Orr....................................................................................................................................:eek3:

I installed front WRX calipers and rotors and SS lines on my 97 L along with front coilovers only, as i don't have new bushings for the lateral links on the passengers side and I have to cut the damn hub out to switch it over to discs and i thought it would be funny to have stock rears with dumped front coils.

The wagon rolls like a trans am. lol

Also i threw in a 255 pump. and changed the oil.

anyone know a good way of removing paint/primer off fiberglass? the pod came primered and it's really ****ty. I started just chipping it off with a paint scrapper but that's really slow

I restored my headlights with a lil' Crystal View from Advance Auto Parts today. Actually quite surprised how easy it was and how well it worked.

    On my 98 OBS...

We (my daughter and I) swapped out the OE injectors with STi yellows (550 cc), reatteched the wastegate actuator, and plugged in the JDM ECU. The battery was dead so after a long charge and a baseball game (local semi-pro team) we got home and started the car. I was weary of the 550 cc injectors being too big since the JDM WRX ones are 460 cc (I think) but the car ran. It idled nicely and I drove it a little. I didn't go far and stayed out of serious boost since the last tank of gas I put in it was when I was driving it with the turbo not hooked-up is possibly 87 octane and definately no higher than 89 octane. I did goose it enough to make 4 psi just to make sure that things were basically working.

Next up is to install the EGT probe and hook up the wideband O2 so I can monitor things. If it keeps running rich (and I suspect it will) I'll have to switch fuel rails or intake manifolds since I have a JDM WRX STi GC8 manifold with the JDM injectors. It turns out the USDM and JDM injectors while both side feed do not fit the same rail. I know I can just swap the fuel rails but the JDM intake will make for a better TMIC mount.

Sand it off. You could use a random orbital but doubt it would be much good with all those curves.

Installed some Borlas, and put a longer exhaust hanger on my muffler so it would quit rattling against the hitch bar.

Didn't do anything yet, but purchased the SRS catback. Now it's time to save up for a good downpipe.

    Suggestions?

Tried hunting down some flaps at the last minute with Tony for the rallyx tomorrow, but settled for painter's tape. Even went all the way to Ted's house (huge props to Tony and Ted for this), but found out we didn't have the right hardware to install his homemade flaps on my car, but guess who did...

We're not gonna question which one is Tony, that's for sure!

I have an angle grinder, dremel, sanding blocks, orbital sander, drill attachments and all that - they all were really marring up the gel coat quite badly (aside from hand sanding which was just as slow as scraping). I bought a new paint scraper that wasn't so dull and got the job done somewhat quickly. pod is now painted black

I have done a whole heck of a lot to my car over the last 2.5 days. With considerable thanks to Chux for the help. It is scary what two people with considerable knowledge of Subarus can accomplish in such a short period of time.

Well I had the same problem with my hood scoop. 3 coats a primmer and a coat a paint. I went to auto zone a picked up this spray can of "pait remover". It's made by Tal-Strip. It's like $6 a can. Spray it on and in 30 min it will just wipes right off. Works great! Just don't get it on your skin!

EDIT: Putting in some good old AMSoil to replace the factory oil(tomorrow, ran out of time today). Putting on a new oil filter (tomorrow, ran out of time today)... and breaking the maintenance cherry.... The car has a whooping 541 (maybe around 600 or so by tomorrow) miles on it.

Today -> Just ended up washing it and vacuuming the inside. The ramps I had for oil changes were not as low profile as i needed them, didn't want to mess up any of the body trying to make it work. Going to checker to return the ramps and pick up a low profile jack and jack stands. going to have to change the oil tomorrow.

    oil change

Did a fresh oil change (shell rotella) and replaced the filter. I observed olegrad doing all the work because I'm new to changing a cars oil and filter. Next time, I will do my own oil change. :)

    Thanks again olegrad!

ok, well it was fun trying to get the factory filter and oil plug out... but it got done. 776 miles on the car - 1st oil change. The WRX thanked me for the high quality oil she got tonight.

note to future self: clean garage floor "better" before next oil change. the oil can be changed without any jacks/jack stands. they are only needed to take off the splash guard. needless to say i have very dirty hair/clothes and i did a good job of getting my new white shoes from Saturday pretty gray... but i am not too worried about it.

I drove it hard. Really hard. While swapping the AVCS/turbo feed oil line yesterday, I ended up with oil on the header wrap on my downpipe. Had to burn it off. :)
