Dang! I had hope that I could have pulled my fronts out. I guess I will have to come up with something else.

I put a transmission in today, mostly. Had some huge issues with the roll pin in the shift linkage now my finger is all busted up.... going to slow progress.

pulled out the raidiator and tore the front of the motor down to replace a damaged light weight crank pully and crank keyway key. the bolt on the crank pully came loose causing the pully 2 work its way out and break the key and the keyway on the crank pully. now in the market for a new lightened crank pully

If you need something to start with I have 2 factory tow hooks laying around. I'm sure we could come up with a way to mount them up front.

I have known a few people with this issue, and never have quite figured it out. I think I have a stock 2002 WRX pulley laying around somewhere if you want an OEM piece.

My hooks were cut off. so I have part of them there but not the actual loop part. I wonder if welding the loop back on would hold up, or just come flying off. Might need to involve some engineers in the process.

i do have 02 or 03 wrx suspension in it and from what i gather that is 3/4-1 in lift. if i wanted to go high(which i dont) i would have done the forester suspension and go 2 inches.

I'm obviously not... got stuck at my apt the other day... Do you need to get an alignment if u put on forester struts/springs? And does it hurt ur cv shafts at all?

Since you will be having the front struts off you will most likely need an alignment since the front camber is controlled by one of the lower strut bolts. If you were using the same struts and bolts you could mark them and re-align them. The rear alignment should not change. Although there is a chance that by raising the car you will shift some of the pivot points which could change your alignment. For example the rear trailing arm will have more of an angle on it which could lead to some more rear caster. stuff like that.

I am not sure of the flexibility of the CVs and DOJs on the EJ stuff. I know that running a 4" lift on the older style Subarus is doable (GLs, Brat, Ect..) it does increase your axle angle which will put some more stress on those components. However how long they last will depend on how hard you are on them. I recall Chux exploded a CV on a trail up at gilbert, but that was involving lifting wheels and such.

I am picking up more part at the dealership today :). I am hoping to have my car running tonight/tomorrow.

So this evening I decided to do the air filter in my Legacy. What a friggin production. I'm not sure if it's just the filter I got (wix) or if the airbox is normally that tight. I had to remove it from the car and squeeze the crap out of it just to snap down the clips.

Far and away the most difficult air filter I've ever done, but at least I know there's NO WAY unfiltered air is getting in there.

had some more slow progress. got the hubs on, ebrakes re-installed and set, calipers back on, driveshaft in, attempted to un-mangle the front support dealie, tore down and cleaned a rear axle for new boots. Tomorrow is going to be a long rough day, but I am hoping I can finish.

I'm not sure what the legacy air box looks like but on the wrx if you slide the end without clips in to place then open the other end just far enough to slip the filter in it's alot easier. That was the only way I could find to easily get my k&n filter in.

Picked up some new wiper blades. My OEM wiper blades decided to cut the glass (in a few places) on my car during my trip to/from STL. LAME!

There was no easy way to do this! the airbox has plastic clips on the bottom and metal snap clips on top and sides, but the gasket on the air filter was just too damn thick to close easily. Thing's tight as a drum now.

washed my car by hand at one of those diy jobbers, their air blower was "broken" so my windows froze. So I drove around for 10 min with the heat cranked, bingo. I love having a perfectly clean car before the temps go subzero, it stays so nice and clean with everything frozen solid.

Valve adjustment inspection, new valve cover gaskets, oil change. Despite the butt-cold temps outside, the Mr. Heater did a sweet job of keepin the 3-car garage comfortable.

SOHC WIN. Nothin like quick valve adjustments with no shims. :)

I cut 18 lbs of unnecessary steel off the car today. It's getting pretty hard to find weight savings in that car.
