Drove all over creation trying to replace a battery in our Civic...

Car died after dinner at Redstone in EP, walked home to get our reliable car, the Subi. :) Drove to Redstone tried to jump it, which failed. Then drove to parts store to get a new battery. It was the wrong size since our MY Civic had 3 different battery sizes... Went back to parts store with the original battery, got the right one. Came back to Redstone and finally got it replaced... Not the way I wanted my Friday to go.

I am ready to get up early tomorrow, detail the Subi, and do an oil change. Yay!

it's temporary until I figure out something more permanent, but I'm happy with it. no drilling into the car, the V1 is hidden from prying eyes, and there is very little movement with it driving down the road. I might give it a quick spray of flat black paint in the meantime.

Took off my Gridlock flaps and picked up some new material. It is a rubber with woven fabric in the sheets. it keeps it from ripping or tearing and gives it great flexibility. The flaps are on, similar to Ted's template, with a few modifications. Need to go to the store and pick up some sort of brace for the top part of the rear flaps.

FOUND RUST! so i guess not all the hardware was stainless! was very pissed to see that the tabs we used were rusted, and took the paint off the metal frame in the front... so there was rust on my car too. A 45 min job turned into hours. Had to take off panels of the car. Fix the rust, paint the metal. put the panels back on the car. then continue to fab and fit the new flaps.

I am very happy with the new found flexibility in my flaps. hope to finish the final touches tonight.

    What's the material called?

    Results?

I installed a set of Whiteline steering rack bushings. ~1.25 hours from wheels up until I was pulling back into my driveway after a brief test drive. It wasn't fun but it also wasn't awful. I ended up tweaking the hard power steering lines to get some clearance to get at the driver's side bushing.

Not sure. I have a family member who is in the rubber business, he hooked me up. It is a sheet of rubber, sheet of woven fabric, sheet of rubber, sheet of woven fabric, sheet of rubber... all pressed or glued or something ... they are together. about 1/8 inch thick. I really like it. picked up some 20 gauge straps of metal for more support in the wheel well. going to put them on after i walk the dogs.

Is the little sun block section on the windshield going to block the laser signals and potentially the RF too if it's magnetic? I like that spot for it though other than that.

It will affect laser, but it won't block RF signals because the sun block spots aren't metallic. My experiences with laser are that once you're hit, it's too late, so I'll take my chances with that. I'd rather have the increased radar performance from mounting it high and also the privacy/secrecy of it up and off the windshield. I'm not a big speeder, I just like to be aware of my surroundings;)

Installed a Hydra 2.5 EMS, had to solder five wires for the Wideband O2 sensor and route the DB9 cable to connect to the laptop. Also pulled out the stock fuel pump assembly. I'm going to make an attempt to build my own Walbro 255 "Double Pumper" to send fuel to my surge tank. I've found the dual walbro hangers sold by a few companies for around $400 and that's without the pumps. Sounded kinda outrageous since It's only a modified hanger with a few AN fittings, a Y-fitting and a pressure switch. I think I can make this work and since my budget is running dry I really can't afford to buy anything I don't absolutely need.

^^^^Yeah really Jeff......way to tease us.

Drove mine for the first time in a week. I drove the forester for a long weekend @ Road America. I think we averaged 29.1 mpg for the trip which I felt was pretty good.

Installed my new Frozen rotors and Hawk HPS pads, cleaned up the BBS's hope like hell that the new pads will help with the brake dust. Also did the brakes on my 2000 Z71, kinda funny the STI rotors are bigger than my 1/2 ton pick-up rotors. I must say that the Brembo design is much more user freindly in comparison to the GM design. Would have loved to take the STI for a test drive, but I broke that very last caliper bolt when tourqing it and all of the stores were closed. I guess I'll have to wait till tomorrow.

^^^I found the HPS pads much better than the stockers w/brake dust.

Also 3 of 4 of the last posts are from drivers of cgm sti's, not a big deal but kinda funny.

Decided the XT6 needs help before the 4runner will be driveable. Crap.

on the list. KYB GR2 shocks/struts all around, Eibach 250lb/in springs for the back, stock GD WRX for the front. EJ front knuckles/axles. v1 WRX brakes (of the 276mm variety, so they will still fit under my 15" steelies next winter). Also timing belt, water pump, and tstat. hopefully that solves (or lessens) my cooling issue with the single core radiator.

I picked up a set of 04 BBS wheels for a good price.

One of them hit a curb fairly hard, looks drivable still however.

Yesterday actually...spent 11 hours washing, claying, removing tar, removing old wax from back trim, washing windows, cleaning interior, 303ing interior, waxing wheels, polishing exhaust tips, (taking a lunch break), and now I don't want to drive it and get it dirty. And I hurt in a variety of places...it sucks getting old.
