Not mine, but one like this. V8 torque is your friend when learning even if it is lowly three-speed transmission. But at least it was on the floor.
Mine was a combination of mid 60's Chevy panel wagon (straight 6, 3 on the tree), '68 Corvette (383 stroker w/ a 4 spd, but didn't have 1st and 2nd...), and a mid to late 90's Grand Am GT with a 5 spd. I think the first manual I owned myself was/is the silver bugeye.
Maroon instead of blue, not the "Rallye" model with black hood either, and larger USDM bumpers, but otherwise yes.
The Maverick was on the floor. The Grabber had bucket seats, and I suspect regular Mavericks with a bench seat had a column shift.
First successful attempt was in my mom's Pontiac J2000, wouldn't say I really got the hang of it until I bought my '91 240SX hatch as a high school senior.
