nope, It's back by the old walmart at Maine Prairie auto. I made a deal with my (ex)boss to get it off his lot since it had been there for a few years with a pan leak. This will make 2 of 3 I'll own by the end of the year.
Well, now that I can't comfortably reach the roof of my car, I needed one of these. Got it for $99 on Woot.com, and it holds 4 bikes. Seemed like a pretty good deal, and it came in 3 days, no extra charge for shipping. I do still have my bike trays however. I am hoping to really try them in the spring to see how hard it is for me to get a bike up there. Or I will pass them on to my dad for his '02.
Just lower the Forester a little. Haha. I put my WRX suspension on mine and I can just barely get bikes onto the roof rack. Sometimes I bring a folding stool with me because it does make it a lot easier. Or just park on a hill. I don't think I could deal with the compromises of a rear mounted rack like that. It's just not convenient enough for me due to access restrictions.
I get that for sure. I'm excited to try it out and see how it goes. I figure even if I decide I don't care for that set up I am not out that much and could probably still recuperate some of the cost. I like the idea of mounting 4 bikes in the back, but getting into the hatch when it is on will be the challenge. A collapsable stool is not a bad idea. I'm still going to try the trays in the spring when it warms up a bit. Now if only I had some 14/15 WRX suspension laying around...
I usually just bring a little one like this. http://www.amazon.com/Home--Folding-Childeren-Stool-Black/dp/B00II67DVW/ It folds completely flat and doesn't take up any space.
Yea, I have the opposite problem: But I can't wait to take you on in the quarter mile. I'll be eating lots of beans for extra power.
Got a Hobart Handler 140 that is MIG ready! It's the recently updated model with the all cast aluminum wire drive system, 5 voltage selections, duty cycle light and a bunch of other fancy stuff. Nice USA made 120V (140 amp) welding machine. Can do 1/4 steel with this, and even some medium thickness aluminum if I choose to! Also picked up 40lbs of welding wire from Fastenal that was on clearance. Payed about $0.88 a pound for it, which is a downright steal! Teaching myself to weld using fluxed core even though MIG is probably the easiest welding form to learn on. Got the fluxed core wire way too cheap, so even though it's a bit more difficult (and I'll waste more wire trying to put down some nice welds), it'll still be way cheaper in the long run to learn on. Also then had to get an angle grinder, so I got a porter cable 20V Max grinder that uses the 20V batteries from my PC Drill and impact driver. The 20V line up from porter cable is probably my favorite budget power tool line, and I've been using the drill for about 2 years now with no problems. Very powerful, durable metal construction of many of the critical parts, fast charging batteries and absolutely tiny and lightweight (the 20V drill is only slightly larger than most other competitor's 12V drills). It's not a Milwaukee or Dewalt, but for $200 I got a drill with a metal gear case and chuck (others in this price range are plastic/metal hybrids- easy to break!), an impact driver also with a metal gear system, 4 batteries, 2 quick chargers and all of them super small for working in the tight quarters of a car. Angle grinder seems to work very well so far, and has surprisingly long battery life. Got a 5 drawer HF tool car to compliment my 44" roller, top chest and side chest. I've way overfilled my 44" tool chest, and this small cart was a great price used on Craigslist. I put a side shelf on it (bought an 18x26 aluminum cookie sheet that was "damaged", aka scratched, off amazon for $2), and now have a large area to set parts down on and work on them. All on a nice little mobile station too. Lastly got a nice large view, 4 sensor, 11 mode auto darkening welding helmet and a 3M respirator to use with the welder. Already been playing around with it!
Finally bought a stand for the 4A-ge, I'll probably be more inclined to work on it now that i can get at the pan bolts.
Finally picked up some rumbles for my 04 wrx! Thanks @Just-someone. Hopefully I can get it installed this week!
I'm kinda of jealous I didn't put that on my car and roll with it for a week before I sold it to you. Good luck with it, one of the best exhaust made.
Most recent car related purchase I think... Thanks again @Se7enrex for the sweet up pipe, and @istoptofly for the tial and welding!
That jack is the sh!t. I got mine on a black friday sale probably 3 or 4 years ago. Never had any issues nor complaints.
The reviews on Amazon were great, so when I saw the sale, I jumped on it. I asked the dude at Northern Tool if he ever saw them come back, etc, and he said nope, they were the best bang for the buck, in his opinion. All I know is that it's a hell of a lot better than the scissor jack in the back of my car. I fully expect it to last a bunch of years.
If you've been using a scissor jack as your main means of lifting the car, I hope you're not wearing sweatpants the first time you use that thing.
Ha, I bought my car last summer, so I only swapped from summers to snows with it once. I knew then it'd be the last time.
I currently run Z1's and like them and these Z2's are the successor to those, so figured it'd be a safe bet. Plus the Z2's are currently on clearance on TireRack, so it made that decision even easier.
I've got one of the Arcan 3.25 jacks with the dual pumps and love it. The arcan jacks are incredibly well built for the price point they sell at.
Oh good! I am no diesel expert but I know the 6.0 is basically what keeps diesel shops in business lol.
I love it, get a programmer if you want to see anything north of 15 mpg, but it makes driving it SO much better. I went from 13 mpg to 18.7 plus 100 more hp and 144 more ft lbs. There are a few things you will need to deal with with these trucks. They ride like a lumber wagon, its just the nature as big as the mirrors are, you cant see **** out of them You have to plan your morning around letting it warm up if you want ANY heat Avoid the 6.0 at all costs unless you budget for about 8K worth of bulletproofing Things to notice when you are looking at them (the 7.3) Look at the oil pan, make sure its not super rusty Look in the valley, see if its pooling fuel (easy fix, but a good bargaining tool) Make sure you start it cold, see how it acts, it should start below 20 without any complaints When cold starting it, it shouldnt smoke (any color) for more than 5 minutes Take it for a good long test drive, make sure its fully warmed up, then try to restart it, if it doesnt restart it has ICU problems or HPOP (high pressure oil pump) problems Dont worry about miles, the lower does not always mean better. Mine has 311K and it runs like new, they can easily get over 500K and still run perfect, lots of million plus mile examples out there. These are not common problems, these are just things that CAN happen to certain trucks, most of these things take a beating and keep coming back for more.
