I've recently moved and no longer get the shell gas i used to. lately i've been filling with 2 gallons of E85 and the remainder of the tank premium (92), which have been really nice and slightly cheaper. What do you all like to use?

1 quart torco accelerator mixed with 5 gallons 92 or 93. 11:1 cr and 16psi ftw (soon to be 20psi). 34mm turbo restrictor ftl

very nice, thanks for the input. what does that end up running you when you fill up? torco isn't cheap, for me anyway

5 gallon bucket of torco accelerator is about $220 shipped. treats 100 gallons of gas and you end up with 102 - 105 octane depending on the gas you dilute it with. a 5 gallon can lasts us about 2 national rallies so a good deal compared to buying $1000 of straight race gas to do 2 rallies

Carl runs the risk of being ticketed if/when he street drives the rally car.

runs the risk huh... alright whatever he's into. i guess if a cop tired to pull him over he could go off road quite well.

    fair enough.

carl drives the zip tie rally car so street-ability would be an issue.
but i moved from the cities to a small town, and i just run 91 which seems to be the highest i can find. and i get it from holiday since its the busiest gas station around, that way i know its not old gas i'm using (or i hope so) otherwise the airport sells 110 octane if i so desire..

the car is very streetable. it rides better than a stock sti but there's no point to drive it outside of competition and to random events to showcase it. but that's not what this thread is about.

good to know, since i figured it wouldn't be legal, but sorry for going off topic..

edit: op what kind of car are we talking that you have? that may influence the octane you require.

yeah i am from a small town and 92 was at the shell station and it had a good feel to the drive. i don't think i'd be comfortable running 110 and driving hard too often without a tune for such an octane.

oh i wouldn't recommend 110 either...and its like 7 bucks a gallon or something crazy. haven't ran the stuff in years..
i personally haven't noticed anything from 87 to 91, but then again i have driven my car maybe 15 miles since i switched to 91 because of my turbo setup.

I do something similar when I am stuck getting gas in 91 octane land. I notice the fuel economy goes down.

I am running 93 octane from BP. There is a station about .7 miles from my house, so thats were I normally fill up. It works well and it was what I was tuned on. However I have run on many other types of gas (Holiday, SA, shell, AMACO, SUNOCO, pretty much anything else out there as well) all of which were 91 octane. Even still running on the 91 octane (while tuned on 93) gave me no problems on my drive to Montana & back (~2800 miles or something stupid like that)

There's a Tesoro station in my parent's town.... I get so much better mileage out of that than anything I've ever used.
