5 microns would be alot more better! Although that may be so small that the oil couldn't get through all that well.

That's why I use the Amsoil, 5 micron filtration.

Hey, if it's good enough for filtering water filled with asbestos, it's got to be good enough for crap in the oil! :D

There is some good info a few posts back that are worth a read. You may stop using OEM.

I'll be honest I buy the OEM blues so I have a reason to visit the parts guys in Minnetonka and really with the amout of catastrophic failures so many around here seem to have, I don't think it matters what filter you're using. I'm sticking with changing/checking oil often and not beating the **** out of my car. Maybe It'll last forever maybe not....I'll take my chances.

******Things have been weird for a loooooong time around here. I'm a sucker(pun intended) for good service and will continue to drive outta my way to get it. That reminds me, I need to pick up some rear end lube from the fellas before spring.

    Both here and on LegacyGT.com.

I can only imagine the number of engine failures reported on Nastycock (that forum scares me).

Always have ran OEM (durrrr), honestly, why would subaru sell a crappy filter? It would only hurt them in the long run with warranty claims, as for saving money, the COST of filters has gone UP every time they switch designs. Blues may not be the absolute best, but they arent the absolute worst, they are more than good enough for a modern street engine.
