Please stop labelling that stuff as punk rock....by doing that you are part of the disease that is killing punk rock.
I celebrate their entire musical librarys, generally without my pants on. I'd pay anything to have a tickle from Yanni's mustache....and those vanilla flavored over-orchestrated made-for-the-mall masterpieces make me explode.
It's pop music. If I were to file it at a BestBuy or similar music selling establishment, I would file it under Pop/Rock. And no, Punk isn't dead, Zombie, if you still listen to decent punk rock bands that have been doing it since the 80's, then punk doesn't suck. Bubblegum Pop/Rock garbage getting passed off as punk rock is what sucks. Blink182 is practically a boyband at this point, and all the little teeny girls go see bands like Blink and GreenDay because teeny girls are into lowest common denominator pop garbage...just like they always have. What needs to happen is some motivated GG Allin type needs to go to a My Chemical Romance or Panic at the Disco show and beat some of the band members into an unreversible coma, then get on the mike and tell people that if they keep calling this stuff punk, these beatings will continue. I was watching a Misfits video the other day on Youtube, and in the comments section someone actually asked "Didn't MCR write this?" It's the lowest common denominator manufactured candy-pop garbage that is labelled by the media and the record companies as "Punk" that is killing real punk rock.
weezy f baby, please say the baby. mainly hip hop and rap for me. I also been listening to some local hiphop
"Real punk" has changed and you cant deny it. The Sex Pistols, Misfits and everyone of the like is done and over with. Times have changed, like it or not Greenday, NOFX and bands of that nature are the future of "punk" rock. I really dont even like the term "punk rock" because it is mostly used by music elitists like Jack Blacks character in High Fidelity who just sit around and talk about what music used to be like, or what they think it should be like. Nobdy gives a ****....move on with your life and focus on things that actually matter not what bands label themselves. They cant kill punk, because it died in the early 90's.
I mainly listen to rock and metal. although I have been known to listen to other genres. Main stuff lately is Edguy, Iced Earth, Symphony X (Paradise Lost is an AMAZING Album!), Soilwork.
Back In Black is Awesome I don't know how anyone could hate that song. I always get caught listening to that song!! NonPoint - Still ALive and Kickin!
I am pretty sure that since myspace started...there are about 193 genres of rock, and 189 of them are teh sux.
isn't this a repost? anyways mostly heavy metal, industrial, but also old 70's music on the radio and a mix of fun music. Here's some favs that come to mind... The Bloodhound Gang KottonMouthKings Slipknot Ramstein Tool Skinny Puppy Job for a cowboy Megadeath Old Metallica Old NIN Ministry KMFDM ICP Even though I'm getting old I still feel like a kid when I crank my music in the car, which is 90% of the time :slayer: :marlboro:
right now mostly rock and metal rage against the machine, deftones, soulfly, five finger death punch, trivium, korn, breaking benjamin, hed pe, atreyu, incubus, team sleep sometimes i throw out some old school rap ice cube (early 90's angry, i hate whitey ice cube, not disney ice cube) 2pac, dre, eazy-e, snoop (see ice cube comment) wu tang, too short i hate the type of rap thats out now other times i just throw in random things like insane clown posse (yes i listen to that group so **** off), twiztid, flyleaf, mower, pearl jam, and other classic 90 music that i listened to throughout middle school and early high school oh yeah i love oldies too, makes me think of going on trips with my parents as a kid ccr, jimi hendrix, mamas and papas, otis redding, al green, janis joplin, beatles
wonder girls, big bang, lee hyori....i'm addictive to alot of korean pop rite now...and some rock...but WG & BB ftw...
I am mostly into rap and hiphop but when I get tired of all that crap I usually turn on some 311,sublime,RHCP, or some Offspring. Anyone else excited about the new Offspring album coming out!!!?
NOFX has been around almost as long as the Misfits, formed in 83 or so, so they aren't really the "future" of punk now are they? Most, possibly all 4 members are 40+. Also, if you compare Greenday, or even say Greenday in the same sentence, to the Misfits, Sex Pistols, NOFX, or any other pure punk bands, I'll slap you silly. Punk didn't die, you just listen to ****ty music and call it punk. What about Dillenger Four, Lagwagon, Mad Caddies, Flatliners, Anti Flag, No use for a name.....the list goes on my friend.
I love 311/Sublume/Bob Marley/chillin' tunes!! There's so much good music out there it's hard to remember all of it and sum it up in a paragraph.
I dont call anything punk. I think all those genres are retarded, the music is either good or it sucks. I personally dont like "I just recorded this in my basement" sound of quite a few of those bands you just mentioned. I do however like NOFX.............GREENDAY.
**SLAP** So what your saying is you've never even listened to any of those bands, because they don't sound anything like a garage band. There is no point to try and make my point, after reading your above statement.
Psycho has been around since the early 80's. The wikipedia link posted shows the earlier bands, but the more mainstream bands now are Nekromantix, Tiger Army, Demented Are Go, Mad Sin, Horrorpops etc. Pretty bad*** stuff!
I saw them one other time they played at The Lab--awesome show! Jimmy Urine lit the guitar players ass on fire, and had a target on his back for the DC Sniper to shoot (that was around the time of the concert.)
