My new ride! Aaaaand cleaned up and being delivered: 2015 Toyota 4Runner Trail Premium with KDSS (Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System) in Super White. Come on, you didn't think it was going to be a Subaru, did you?
Nice! My buddy has one just like that but black. Its real nice. All kinds of fancy off road settings but his will never leave the pavement haha.
I was playing around with the settings yesterday, most of them are only activated in 4Low. Crawl control and Multi-Terrain Select in addition to the KDSS and locking rear diff. I'm kicking around the idea of doing the "gray wire" mod to get the locking rear diff to work in 4Hi, but I'm guessing this is going to have plenty of traction once I get the new tires put on. Debating right now between the Goodyear Duratracs and the BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2s.
I saw a video of the crawl control piling up sand under the tires of a truck that was buried up to the axle and allowing it to drive right out. It was pretty impressive.
You shut your whore mouth. It's not the prettiest thing in the world, but it's one of the most durable vehicles out there.
It does, part of the upgraded Entune audio suite that Toyota is putting out now. Not letting those little bastards get by again.
Good choice. Wifey's dad has a 2009 with 190k miles on it. His only regret is not going with the V8, but otherwise he absolutely loves the thing. He's a Toyota fanatic and did all kinds of research before picking up the 4runner. He's a year or so away from selling it and picking up a Tundra, and his wife drives a Camry, 2 of his daughters drive Rav4's, and my wife has a 2012 Corolla. I'm thinking of selling the Corolla and picking up a Highlander in a couple years. I'm thinking I'll have my WRX for a while though.
Take a gander at the Kumho mud terrains if you'd like. http://www.kumhousa.com/tire/category/truck-suv/F8656BD8-0A87-4166-82B5-0DF52D4AC17E I'm putting them on the danger ranger. Looks great though! Sweet buy!
I saw some videos of that too, I would definitely want to test that out myself. Do any of those diff settings disconnect the swaybar electronically?
White 4runner crew checking in. Congrats again, broriain. How does it feel downsizing to a smaller/lighter vehicle?
Smaller, yes. It's about the same weight as my SHO, though. Either way, it's awesome. I wouldn't mind a bit more power, but it just seems to do everything really well. It's also anvil simple, something that I'm loving more and more about it. The drivetrain isn't the most modern, but it won't break either. Hard to believe that this 4.0l V6 has 30 more hp than the 5.9L V8 my old Durango had and gets 4-6mpg more. That was the "big" engine option too.
Subaru, Toyota...same thing. And that has 5 doors newb. Let me know if you need me to edit your thread title.
Love the white! Congrats on the purchase - wish it had been in my budget when I was looking at the FXT!
That looks super fun and puts to shame all the shiny new jeeps with huge tires and a big lift that I see daily.
These things look awesome. If I had to get a truck, this would be one of the front runners. Congrats!
I went back and forth between the Super White and Barcelona Red. I'd have been happy with either, but in the end I went with the white because it looks really good on these, and it'll be an easy color to take care of.
Nothing is perfect, although I could swap the hood off of an SR5 and eliminate the problem. I wear polarized sunglasses, and it helps cut down on some of it. I can always do a matte plastidip spray job on the back of the scoop.
