So I'm looking into getting a set of motegi mr131 traklites, 17x8 offset of 40. What's a good summer tire, and what width tire would you recommend?
Last set of summer only tires I ran was the Nitto Nt05. No Idea if they still make them or not as this was over 3 years ago when I still had my BRZ. Was a very sticky summer only tire that was awesome in dry warm conditions. Did ok with rain. Were absolutely like skating on ice in temps under 40 till the tires got warm.
In terms of tires I like Continental's Extreme Contact Sport (02 is the latest model) because they're good in wet and dry. Not really good below 40F tho, just like @JasonoJordan mentioned No idea for width. Probably at least 225, but you can probably go wider. Just not familiar enough with your chassis to give a more dialed in recommendation
I have Continental tires on 2 of my cars. DWS and DWS 06. Both are louder than the Indy's. Stay away from Falken and cheap Yokohama Geolander. I say, find a nice long lasting quiet grippy z-rated tire that does mud and snow. None of us are Ayrton Senna... Really don't need the stickiest of tires. I've had 17" and 18" rims, 225 and 235 wide tires on all my Subarus including the 01 Forester, 02 WRX, 08 WRX, 09 Forester, 19 Forester and yo mama... although she liked 335 wide... cuz, you know.
Thanks for the advice but sadly funding fell through and looks like I'll have to try again next year. Still got at least 1 more season on my current tires anyways lol
I just went back to look at the rims. I have those with the red lip stripe on my wife's 2019 forester with 235/55/18 tires. Great wheel, sadly still the stock Falken tires. Gonna replace them soon. I do like the rims.
