mlgez, I talked to the powdercoater. He said he could do a decent deal for us if we do the same color. Let's just pull the trigger on this even if its just you and me because I need to get some tires on these wheels for the summer. We can drop these off by next Monday (3/26). If we could meet at the coater we could finalize the color together even. Give me a call if you want to discuss. 612-327-5377

Everyone else, if you want in, you better say something now. All parts will be accepted not just wheels and you will get a good deal on them.

Ok, I think I'm in on the black now. However, this is contingent on me getting my Miata back up here from ND this weekend (I'm headed up there on Sat and will be back Sunday). Then I'll need to get the tires unmounted on Monday.

I forgot to mention that the only thing I'm concerned about is the gas in the Miata. It's been sitting in storage since October, so I'm not sure if I'll need to drain the tank or not.

Otherwise, please don't jump the gun this weekend without me. :)

Dropped off my wheels and some screen materials. Very nice guys. Samples looked good. The matte looks good and they could do it with a slight texture to it so it looks more flat black too. Should we do it with texture or just the normal matte black??? When you drop off your stuff ask to see the matte and matte w/texture samples.

I am in either way but I really like the textured matte black.

Did you look at the textured matte black? Oh well I don't think I can convince everyone to do it so plain it is.

post pics... I think I may have to get mine stripped down and powdercoated as I just took a bit flake of the coating off, and also have a buttload of rock chips around the edges...

do they strip the current coating of and refinish it???

LMAO....I have had mine since Friday. What happened??? Everyone jumped ship on the matte black finish. You should have stayed with the black. They did my screens for the car too. Everything looks great.

Oh make sure you take cash or check. No cards yet.

I talked with Mike at Twin City Powdercoating and he said he would extend the $220 pricing for stripping/blasting and coating 4 wheels to anyone regardless of a group buy if you choose a standard color they run. The matte black is standard as well as a bunch of others. Here is his contact info.

Make sure you mention you are with MNSubaru and you missed the group buy.

What are their stock colors? I would be interested in matt black or maybe a gunmetal...I can't really decide because I don't know what would look good on my OBP STi. I need something like the tire rack has for looking at rims :)

Here are the rims I got done.

I've got to get different center caps yet, but it looks nice. They are perfectly smooth. The rims were blasted, powdercoated, and then clear coated. Sweet!!

I just got off the phone with Mike a little while ago. He said he has twice as many colors now. He also mentioned that he put up a thermal coating booth. So now he can knock out as much as you want for thermal coating. He guesstimated he could do 100 manifolds at a time.

I'm going to swing in a get some color samples. I'm looking for hyper black or as close to it as I can get.

Absolutely not for flat black! I have done some for bike fairing stays and sub-frames... Fine for that but it almost looks like it is flocked! Easily marked up. Great powder for looks but rims.... No way! You could ask him to do a satin black and add gloss killer... he should have that on hand. It will reduce the gloss down to near matte finish.

That is a good price by the way...
