Just wondering what is the widest wheel that will fit On an 04 wrx. I'm thinking 17x8 or 17x9 will either one fit. Thanks

You can probably fit 10" wide with modifications. Pretty sure that you will need a fender roller to get anything bigger than 8'' on there...but i could be wrong.

I don't see why you couldn't hold a 17x9 with a decent fender rolling on an 04. Offsets will play a factor as well. What wheels and tire sizes are you looking at?

    Yeah that's fine. 05-07 sti's came with 17x8 +53ish wheels stock.

    Which tires? re070s or dunlaps?

STi tires will work fine without a roll if you're talking stock Potenza's?

Yeah, the grids typically come in 17x8 +48 in subaru fitment. Look for the newer hubcentric ones. a 225/45/17 winter or as tire might be a little stretched but most summer tires will fit nicely on there. The actually widths differ between brands and models. Check tirerack for specific tire to wheel width fitment.

Yeah, 8" wide with an offset in the 45-53 range should be fine using stock sti tire sizes.

You said you wanted to use STi tires in a post earlier, you wont want to use those on a 17x9. Still, to run 17x9 on a wagon, you will absolutely need to roll the rear fenders. You wont be able to run the stock STi tires on them. You would probably want to run a 245-40-17 on those as that will give the closest correct circumference for that width. Anything you get from Wheeldude/Rota will likely have the correct offset for your vehicle, so I wouldn't worry too much about that.

I am going to assume that my translation is correct and say that you will still likely have to roll fenders. Do you have any suspension modifications? If you are lowered at all you will definitely need to roll fenders. You can't just say "with whatever tires" because that is where the spacing comes into question for the fenders, and the offset, and the ride height. There isn't just some magic combination of wheels and cars that just works. The Impreza line of vehicles in 2004 all base their tires off the STi 17x7.5 BBS + 225-45-17 tire. A 17x8 wont change things much. But adding another inch to that is adding 1.5 inches of increased width. That will required wider tires than stock, and if you are lowered at all, you will need to roll the fenders because the fenders were not made to handle that width stock. There just isn't space.

    18x9.5 Rota Grid - Gold (5x100/e38/56.1)

    So 38

EDIT: I ended up getting the 73.1 Hubs with the 56.1 Hub rings. Wheeldude stopped selling the 56.1 Subi specific Grids in that size.

Careful. In this instance, the person he is asking doesn't have a pic of his car as his avatar. And in this instance you can't search Google for "what car does the user that-dude, on MNSubaru, drive" and get an answer. You could have, however, looked at the avatar of the person in that for sale thread, saw that he had an 04-05 WRX sedan, and then went on Google to find the exact specifications for the HKS HiPower catback exhaust for that model, and also found videos of people with that exhaust, revving their car and driving around.
And if you feel like poking mods for laughs, you picked the wrong one.

Haha. I wasn't actually refering to you about me looking up what the exhaust was. That i should have looked up. I was refering to what someone else said after you suggested i do a google search.
