anyone running wheel spacers or wheel adapters on their subaru? if so what kind? and what size? any info helps!
I've installed one set. They were Eibach spacers. Don't know where they came from as I didn't order them. They were a very nice setup. Came with studs that held the spacer to the hub, and studs that went into the spacer to hold the wheel on. IIRC, they were pretty spendy though. A google search could probably find them. And I think they were 10mm, or possibly 15mm.
Here's a link, really spendy! http://www.autoanything.com/suspension-systems/61A2607A0A0A2074865.aspx Will fit 5x100 hubs.
yes those are wheel adapters, most of them are like 1 inch or so and they're 100 bucks a set. Anyone use Wheel spacers? I ordered some so i guess i'll just test them myself.
You can't run wheel spacers thicker than 5mm because the stock studs aren't long enough, doesn't leave you with enough thread engagement for the lugnuts (7-8 turns.) Even 5mm is pushing it imho. So you either have to go with the ultra-thick ones, as linked, that have new studs built-in, or replace the stock studs with longer ones. Is there any particular reason you want to run spacers, or ar you just going for the look?
i know i'll need new studs, the only reason im using spacers is because the wheels i want only come in one offset +40 and they dont fit over the brembos..
So they don't clear with a +40, you are going to be pushing them out even more, at least, what, 10mm? So an effective +30 offset. That is like 23mm from stock, that is a lot... personally I would just look for some wheels that fit properly. Plus the rear studs are a pain to change.
^yep.... I run spacers on the RS due to the 17x8 w/ 245mm V710s :wiggle: I have run 0 fr, 5 rear; 3 fr, 5 rear; 5 fr, 8 rear. I have extended studs in the rear that came with the H&R spacers (I have 2 sets). I have a generic set of 3mm, as well. Anyway, as noted, replacing rear studs are a pain in the ass, but not impossible.
personally, i would go with the wheels that i want. alot from stock? who cares, my whole car is alot from stock? whats that matter?
Excessive wheel bearing wear. Probably rubbing your fenders, assuming you are dropped. Increased scrub radius and twitchier handling. http://imazda.com/forums/showthread.php?t=509
yeah, most show cars I wouldn't want to take on a track. different priorities, just throwing the info out there. do what you gotta do.
wheel spacers make your wheel bearings go poop due to the weight of the car not being properly centered over the bearing just to let you know.
What WHEELS are they???? I run 8mm spacers on my 5Zigen FN01R-C 17x8 +48 up front. This makes the front come out to a +40mm, with the rears running +48mm. They clear the front BREMBOs by like 1-2mm. I run NISMO extended wheels studs. I need to purchase the FN01R-C's with the +35mm offset for the fronts.
If I use this link, was wondering what one to get for a '04 wrx. Don't know much about these. thanks. http://www.autoanything.com/suspension-systems/61A2607A0A0A2074865.aspx
Just bring the wheels out a bit just flush with the edge of the wheel well. front and rear, its a 04 wrx with 17" prodrive gc-10g's just need to know what size mm? 5, 10 15? -thanks
In all honesty, I would say 0. You will put more stress on your wheel bearings, and they will wear much faster. If you must run them tho, I would say that 10mm should be fine. 15mm would be very close to making the rears rub assuming you haven't rolled the fenders. For the record, 1" = 25.4mm.
Brandon listen to shibbs dude. Wheel spacers are HORRIBLE for your bearings. I had offset rims on my old truck, that thing went threw bearings like oil changes.....
