02' WRX, stage 2, had the fuel leak recall done a couple months ago...they left two hoses (ones right by the fuel filter) super loose, and fuel was leaking out...fixed that, but still getting poor milage (barely, or less than 200 miles on a tank) I don't smell fuel anymore, car seems to run ok, I don't have a tactrix, or I'd run some logs... A bad o2 sensor would throw a code...right? Anyone have any ideas (other than to go over all the fuel lines with a fine tooth comb)?
By maintanance, you mean? I generally do all my upkeep myself. Haven't done a compression check yet. 102K, Did plugs at 60K, air filter and oil are up to date, ordering parts for timing belt, water pump etc next week. Didn't try a reset yet, I did throw a misfire code shortly after getting the car back from the recall, before I discovered the leak, but I had those occasionally before, (lightweight flywheel) not often, but every now and then in the winter...
Yeah...when I get around to it, I'll jack the car up, and look hard for fuel leaks, do a comp test, and being that you have to take the plugs out anyway...put new ones in. I was expecting the "fix" to get me better milage...it's worse now...pardon my newbiness, but can someone tell me how that new rail connects to the injectors? Not easy to see in there...would that be easy to f up as bad as they did the hose clamps on the fuel filter? (You can see pics of what I'm talking about in the recall thread). (feel free to scold me for not searching on that)
My guess is ripped turbo inlet (read up on post maf leak) you are getting bad gas mileage now because your car thinks its running lean, so its dumping fuel to compensate.
I was kind of wondering about that too...it does seem kind of like the power delivery varies more than it has in the past...sometimes pulls like a mutha...othertimes its not so hot. Just curious, when they installed the new rail, would they have had to take the turbo inlet off? Or just the manifold?
Yup they would have to take the inlet off, new (stock) ones are on a backorder till late may at least right now, probably because so many of them got replaced when this recall came out.
So I'm guessing pressure test the intake system to cover all those bases? I'll just check and make sure the inlet is on there good first...if the techs were incompetent enough to leave the hoses on the fuel filter loose, who knows what else they half-asked me on...
