Don't know if I like the contrast of the bronze Brembo's with the blood red?? This looks pretty sweet also, Cosmic Blue ...
yeah i was going to say a blue next... i was just thinking to keep it more of an earthy tone as you have a silver car
Yea, plus the Brembo calipers have the logo in red I like that blue too. What would white look like anodized?
Don't know what that is. It's a titanium "look" lip. It's not made to be light, but it's so Fing hot! The +38 offset I'm going with makes the lip 52mm. 2 inches of that lip = FTMFW!!
I want to run a crazy color that no one has the balls to do. I like to stand out..at least with my cars that is
Here are the colors that Pioneer offers http://www.pioneermetal.com/images/content/finishes/anodize/graphic_dye_guide.gif
Purple?! Hmm..not sure about that. That is crazy, but purple..not so much. Not a huge selection to choose from. Pioneer definately seems the most experienced when looking and reading the websites. Lots of information
first of all..i really want to do this...and second..you know how much those gram lights cost right? they are one of the most expensive wheels out there right now
Haha...not really that much. Not sure who you're buying from, but it's not that much. The size I inquired about were an inch larger and quite a bit wider with a custom offset and they were $100 less per wheel. The only thing that really sucks is that they take about six-eight months to get here once they're ordered. They are super expensive, but look what you get. It's pure eye candy and you can be almost 100% sure that no one else will be running the same wheels. It's eye pure eye secks! I will definately hump them! And to make some money back, I will let you guys hump them for a fee! I would not get these anodized. I changed my mind about that, don't know what I was thinking. However, I still would like to get my stock BBS's anodized or possibly another set of wheels if I can find some for sale locally that will fit. What blows is that the anodizing company's in the area have limited colors to choose from, which means I can't do a deep red or any other custom color. I would have to choose from the list of colors they offer. Boo to that, but I'm still doing it. Maybe we could get a group by discount!
One thing I read that would concern me is the fact that the surface has to be blemish free. The anodizing process will enhance any bump or scratch. Also, the thickness of the actual anodizing is not very thick. I believe it is thinner than hard anodizing. This would be very prone to scratches and would make the scratch highly visible if you opt for a dark color. Maybe clear coating would help, maybe not. Touch ups would be a b!tch. Or should I say, impossible. Last but not least, the anodizing process dulls the finish a bit. Have you looked into Powdercoating that looks like anodizing? Twin Cities PowderCoating had a motorcycle chassis sitting there that has a super bling bling silver base with either a red or blue 'anodized look' top coat. That was sweet as hell. You can probably get that with a clear coat as well. ***EDIT*** How about an anodized base coat with a PC clear top coat?
*yawn* Dude, come on. *sigh* I don't come on your threads trying to get you to change your mind about what you want to do. I understand where you're coming from and the pros and cons about both anodizing and PCing. At least prove your point by providing pictures of the differences you're trying to make.
Sorry, not trying to change your mind. I think they would look sweet. I'm just thinking about the cost vs the life span. I have no pictures to compare as I have never had any rims anodized. I'd love to see how yours turn out. I'd just hate to see them ding'd up. The rims I had PC'd are here... http://www.mnsubaru.com/forums/showpost.php?p=340801&postcount=77
They look pretty good, but they definately don't have the look of anodized. Everything will wear over time. I don't mind that. I have an email in to a rep for more information and cost. I will share what I find out. Who PCed your wheels? Curly--I'm on it!
Twin Cities Powdercoating (in Lino Lakes) did my rims. That is why I mentioned that Twin Cities PC does a Powdercoat that looks like anodizing. It was sweet. Pictures don't do it justice. It looked awesome in the sun!
also the whtie car in the first picture d-moneys car is not anodized they are powder coated "candy pink" like the pics above predavor posted. So if you like the look of the pictures posted go with power coat.
Old thread bump!!!!11!1!!@@1!oneone I'm looking at anodizing the fuel surge tank I'm in the process of making, to protect it from the gnarly effects of ethanol. I don't care about color or finish. It could be booger green and I could care less. I'm just looking for anyone who has had anything anodized and their experience with said service. Holla back ya'll.
I'm not sure if alodine will prevent corrosion from ethenol but that's what we use on wet ribs of a 747 inner wing structure to prevent corrosion from jet fuel. Might be a cheaper way to go and you can do it yourself. Here's where we get it from http://www.wolkerstorfer.us They might anodize too but probably pretty expensive since they are certified for alot of aerospace applications
Aeroquip's aluminum fittings are advertised as OK for ethanol from the anodizing. I'll have to look into what you posted though, and the cost/benefit. Thanks for the heads up.
