I havent been in the scene for a while....and why in the name of god would you need the newest best thing to ride in the woods? are you gonna race? i highly doubt it. just like the zrx handles like sht, according to you.
Compared to "newer" bikes the the ZRX would get owned around a track, face it your bike would out perform it everyday. No I don't need the latest and greatest, but if I am going to buy something that I am passionate about I am going to buy something that is highly respected for what it does.
You can stick to what you know, (dirtbikes) and i'll stick to what i used to know (older dirtbikes) and awesome street bikes
Enlighten me about how much better super motard bikes are compared to either sportbikes or dirtbikes.
Yup. I've played sports my entire life (including hockey), and racing harescrambles might be the most physically demanding thing I've ever done. And it's gonna get worse once I get bumped up to B class (more than likely after next season) and the races go from an hour to two. :eek4: Check out some of the videos in that other link I posted. Good stuff.
I totally agree, I dont think anyone really sees how much of a workout it really is. much like stand-up jet-skiing
Here you go Erik see if you can take your bike to Pro-Kart
My kawi blew up, or we would have gone already! Well, that is if you weren't working all the damn time. Waiting for my Outback to sell, so I can buy another ski!
I loved my 250EXC, but I didn't ride it often enough. When I lived in Zimmerman, I would ride almost every day... but that happens when you have a track around your house. Maybe another day I'll get a dirtbike again, but more than likely it will be a quad. I am way more daring and retarded on those, and there are more places to ride them (unless your talking track racing).
Stop by BIR and watch the experts on SMs pass the ultralight and lightweight bikes. Or, come by DCTC and watch the SMs pass pretty much everything out there. If you're not a fan of SMs then fine. I'd hardly say they suck though. Not to mention it takes a matter of minutes to swap rims if you wanted dirty tires or what ever.
^ A Suzuki DRZ is a far cry from the race prepped SM's they run at BIR, that being said both are worthless in the dirt. That SM at BIR would not work that great off-road even with different wheels and tires.
Plus, at BIR, horsepower is king. There's more straights there than at the Republican Natl. Convention. lol. 450+ SM bikes make nearly double the hp when compared to the little 125cc pingers. They better damn well be able to whoop up on those little guys. And just swapping rims? Don't forget a chain (you'd be insane to want to run SM gearing in the woods or even on an MX track) since the rear will have a much larger sprocket. I think those guys also would have to swap out caliper brackets as well. Then there's the whole suspension thing.....what are you going to do?? Reset the sag and then open up both compression and rebound circuits all the way and hope for the best? Yeah, I don't think so. Don't get me wrong, SM bikes are sweet in theory. But you're better off just getting two bikes that are purpose built.
After seeing this on Yoshi's website I may have to jump on the EFI bandwagon Thats some torque for a 450 single!!!!
