Martin, the biggest thing you need to look at is the flow charts. You are running high compression (atleast for a turbo car), so you won't be able to run in the range that some of these turbos are efficient. I would guess with a 9:1cr you will only be able to run 12-15psi with a good ic. if I were you, I would lower the cr down a bit and just go from there. most of the turbos that have been listed are not efficiently going to work for you. Most of the mitshu turbos (16,18,20g) all like that 18-21psi area, and for you to run that kinda of boost, you will REALLY have to lower the timing.

^ good point. now heres a question. would it better to lwer the CR or lower the boost. run 8.5:1 at 18psi or 9:1 at 14psi. wouldnt both of these scenarios provie similar power levels at the high end, but the lower boost one would have more low end power because it doenst rely on the turbo so much (and hits full boost faster?)

You want to have a lower CR so you can run more boost and make more reliable HP. You want to stay away from detonation. Need pressure to be not too tight when at TDC. You wanna give those air/fuel molecules(sp?) room and not make them fire yet when at TDC.

Go with 8.0:1, 20G 600-640cc injectors, cams for the WRX heads, ported a bit so it'll flow well, and you'll be able to get your 300whp.

remember the higer cr you have the less power you can make on pump..... but if you run meth injection.... you really shouldnt have to worry..... just my opinion

you can have a high compression ratio and still make reliable power..... there are a bunch of people on nasioc with a 2.5 swap and running wrx heads with just the helix 264 cam kit only..... and they are putting down 400whp on pump, without a problem..... and the cr on a 2.5 block with wrx heads is around 9:1 with stock sti pistons.... so imo, cr really shouldnt be a big issue if your not looking to go over 400whp on pump..... when my block is done it will be around 9:1, and i will easily be able to put down more then 400whp..... im just going to have to use alcohol injection or higher octane gas...

IIRC the sti/wrx hybrid withthe sti pistons is around 8.5:1.

that has been highly debated..... it can range from 8.5:1 to 9:1

debated how? cause these are the to options i am looking at either straight 9:1 or a 8.5:1. i guess i am leaning more towards 8.5:1 just cuase as you say i wil be able to get more from pump gas.
