Who wants to blast some paper? AKA Another MNSubaru shooting day!

The guy I am talking with to do my FFL transfer says that I have to have one for military-style rifles.... But I thought the PSL-54c was a "sproter rifle":biggrin:

 

You can add me to the list, I just won't be bringing anything, for now.

 

I am still undecided, but if I do go, put me down for a k98k. People are welcome to shoot it, but will have to provide their own ammo.

8mm Mauser (7.92x57mm)

The rifle is a large ring, so the 8mm Mauser IS rounds are perfect, and shoots surplus ammo well (NO I repeat NO corrosive ammo will be allowed!) If you can only find US factory ammo in 8mm Mauser, that is fine, you just won't get the full recoil the rifle produces with the proper rounds.

 

Yeah I still havent figured out how this works yet. The law clearly states that a P2P is only required for a handgun, I still see nothing about rifles (even the highly dangers black military types). Although apparently you need one to get anything with a curved clip. Just buy .308 and you should be fine. ;-)

 

But I don't want a .308 I want a 7.62x54r!

I have a .308 barrel for my single shot getting fitted now. I am going to talk with the FFL today. I have the paperwork done, I just need to submit it. I personally have nothing to worry about, hell if I can still have my security clearance, I should be able to buy a gun. :laugh:

No need for a carry permit, as I never intend on needing to carry.

the 1st post has me bringing the M1A. I am not planning on bring this unless someone wants to shoot it. The case it is in a very bulky and cumbersome. Does anyone want to shoot this? if so I will bring it. post up if you want to shoot it. (supply your own ~150gr .308Win or 7.62x51mm ammo)

I agree, no real reason to shoot an M1A at 50yrds, seems like a waste of ammo to me. I guess bringing the k98k is just as bad, but I haven't fired it in ages, and I want to burn off rounds before it is broken down for restoration this spring.

 

That's what I'm thinking. Plus, you can get 20 shell drums for them! Pretty much a dream self-defense weapon that could also double for beast slaying!

 

I'm familiar with AK's I gots a .308 win AK. Well its a SAIGA, but that really the same thing basically.

 

How long does it usally take for a Permit to Purchase to clear? I have a PSL54c waiting on the city of Bloomington to process the paperwork.

I had my permit in one week here in Blaine.

Mr. Shorten/others, Do you have any suggestions for a range rookie as far as what to bring or what to bring it in? Range bag, seperate pistol cases, ammo in seperate container, Can mags be loaded? You know just some basics other than what is under the "rules" of the range.

And yes Nate that would be swell to have a shoot out at your place. I'm not as armed as some of the others but would have no problem letting ya try our couple of guns.

 

damn... I think this may be the shotgun I convince the wife to get.. ha ha ha.. but honey you did say only 1 shotgun.. so I got one that outshoots everything and wont leave teh forest in our backyard standing...

I may have my wife talked into going and maybe another friend so me +1 possibly 2 but bringing the same guns.

 

I am still planning on making it. I have to stop at walmart to pick up some more blasting ammo. Hopefully they have some in stock this time.

On a side note, my P2P came through, and my PSL will be shipping from AIM in a few days :laugh: I have 880rds of 7.62x54r just sitting in the basement. 149gr of FUN!

 

Ok, probably some stupid questions but...

Should I just pick up some targets from fleet farm or something?
-I have Eye, ear protection, and my permit to purchase so I can rent. Anything else I need to bring?

Bills makes you use their ammo if you are renting. Targets are $1 or $2

If anyone wants to bring 9mm they can shoot my 3" sub compact

If anyone wants to bring 12g slugs they can shoot my mossy shotgun

 

I heard they were expensive there, that's all

 

I'll be there. Hopefully I can figure out the underground garage this time. :ugh:

 

$1 or $2 ea depending on the target. It isnt too bad. I have some left over poker targets I will bring. I find having 52 small targets on one page makes for good grouping practice.

 

I picked some up, Just a single target per sheet but 12 sheets so I should be alright. I'm pretty stoked.
