hi new here , i have a wagon also pic #4 in the first post is why im here , soooooo sweet , hope to look very similar when its done
Dream has a wagon? Nah I don't want one anymore ... well at least not till he changes cars in 3 months :biggrin:
Most people that do this did it for looks. I personally think it's sexy. However, I do believe the benefit is this: Less flex in the sidewall = better/faster steering feedback I ran a 215/45R17 on my 9" with my 240, and loved the feel of them. Plus, I am a "wannabe" at heart
^ not only are they good for better/faster steering as you were saying, but with a lower car with rolled fenders when taking fast corners the stretched tires hug the inside lip nicely giving a slammed car just that much more flexibility in cornering which is awesome
Stretching tires that far has negative consequences on the tires contact patch. That is why tire manufacturers have recommended wheel widths for each and every tire they make. If you want sharper turn-in, replace some bushings and buy better tires. Generally, people with "slammed" cars are not really in it for the handling, as they have no idea what they have done to their suspension geometry. If they need to stretch their tires for flexibility in hard cornering, they are doing it wrong. You do not see these overly stretched tires on racecars for a reason(s).
stretched tires work on drift cars because the tire slides more consistantly and it's easier to get them spinning. other than that, they don't have much of a performance application
This is true. I remember reading about the BOZZ Speed Evo 6 in SCC. They varied the wheel widths buy .5" to adjust the break-away caracteristics of the tires on each end of the car. However, they were still well within spec as far as the wheel widths goes for those tires. Drifting is a whole other ball game though.
My first subie was a wagon, I'm hoping to by another one since I'm turning my sedan into a project/Summer car.
i saw a sexy white hawk eye wagon at spirit mountain last friday. i think it was cali plate? DARK tint.
Yeah I mean I get the point of it, I guess it was more of a general statement. I personally don't like the miss match body lines.
Moar rublez, duh. My *goal* is: 1. > 20G 2. Stealth FMIC 3. Sedan fenders/bumper 4. RS (scoopless) hood Maybe when the Dow gets back to 10k...
My admin needed to borrow my car for a "small purchase for the office" Huge red bags are full of candy.
