Overall it was a pretty good game, and for the most part with a few exclusions(end of the first period especially), the best we've played recently. Kovio - damn, everytime I see him play I swear he gets better. He looks like he's playing so hard out there right now. Burns - didn't really do much last night and to be honest I didn't really see him out there a whole lot, I guess I got used to him at forward. I'm glad he's back on defense though. Garborik - I'm glad he got a couple points last night, instant confidence builder. All is not rosie though, he needs to man up, seriously he looked like he was scared to get near the puck unless he had open ice. Boogaards hit was devastating as well as his single punch in the fight. I think all of the flames hate clutterbuck, lol almost forgot schultz in a fight? wtf
Cal and the flames is kinda like Boogy and the oilers. Cal had everyone pissed at him. it was pretty fun. Hopefully Gaby can get another 14985984598 goals the next game so his stock goes up so we can ship his ass somewhere else. Hope he goes to LA. Then he can have fun with the other 15 people that show up to the games. Russ
There's an article from the Toronto Sun with a rumor that says Gaborik might be traded for Kovalchuk. That would be a hell of a deal for MN.
^^^^Thats has been posted all over the net. There way to many things that just don't make sense with that trade. OR we are giving up a lot more than Gaby. 1. atlanta sure as hell doesn't want Hossa part 2, so why would they take Gaby when he has no contract. 2. Kovi's contract is up next year. We would have Gaby part 2. Those items alone make it seem like a far fetched idea. I have a feeling that Backstrom is going to be on the block come trade deadline, and probably 1-2 defense guys. We will more than likely have Cuma playing next year, Reitz looks like he is ready to stay in the big league, Foster is still on the back burner, Burns will not go anywhere, Skoula is JL's boy, then you are down to kimmy J, MAB, Licky. Any one of those could go and maybe even 2, so maybe package one of thse guys with Gaby. Russ
But why have we not given him a contract extension?? DR has not even talked to his agent yet. Nothing from the Wild saying that we want him back. I think Harding is a very capable goalie, he just needs some ice time. Tough to prove your good when you have only played 4 games this year. Russ
Agreed. However, I could see it go either way. You gotta remember that our GM doesn't seem to have the best skills, haha.
I hear we won tonight...how'd we play? I wasn't able to watch the game since I'm in Ohio The NJ vs. Boston game was awesome though!
Alright game, there was a lot of missed passed from both sides and a lot of back and forth. At one point we killed a 2min 5 on 3. The crowd was crazy right then. Shorthanded goal FTW. Also to anyone else there did you notice they were playing the game sounds through the sound system. ANNOYING!!! was like watching the game while someone was shoveling their driveway.
oh yeah, I also saw this hardcore fan. Sorry about the huge picture but it's easier to see his cell screen. This is mid game mind you.
Nice. I sit right about where that guys left hand is, but in the lower level. I actually brought my camera last night so I could mess around during warmups. I have to get my pics uploaded and I will post a couple later. Not to bad last night. They almost tried. That was also Gaby's last game as a wild player (speculation). For those that don't follow to close, DR has given Gaby the bench till after the roster freeze. No games, no practice. Hmmmmm..... Said it is to let tenderloins rest a bit. Kinda funny that he is allowed back right after the roster freeze is over, and he would be playing cold against the sharks. Hmmmmm...... Russ
That just reminded me, I was sitting maybe 7-8 seats down from you for the 3rd period of the islanders game last week. We had standing room tickets and a couple left the game early and gave us there tickets on the way out.
The Sharks are in town tonight boys, and I think they will continue to extend the streak against the wild. Wish I had tickets, I'll go to the game in march for sure.
Well the wild are on a pretty big skid and the sharks are doing well. Stranger things have happened, but if I were a betting man.......... Either way I'm excited to go tonight. Anyone watching the winter classic tomorrow? Detroit crushed the Blackhawks last night, will they do it again?
If you really want to go, just hit up the scalpers. If you can wait till the puck drop they damn near give them away. Winter classic will be pretty good. Then we will have Nothing But Crosby playing their weekend games. Russ
Sharks,Wings and Boston all in one week and throw in a division game vs. Colorado in the middle of all that:ugh: I'm hoping for a BIG win tonight that may get the team and fans fired up for the next bunch of games. On another Wild note: Yesterday I finally got my puck for the puck wall in sec 124. Check us out were puck #1863!
Or hit up Craiglist. <--- sec 111, row 7 tonight  Hopefully this win sparks something and snaps this slump we have been in. Kind of ironic that Nolan comes back and we win..... I lol'd when Pouliot was scratched tonight. Also, give Koivu the "C" back.
What seats were you in?? We are 112 row 11, so we are right next to the railing that would be right behind you. We used to share seat 9&10 with the crazy lady. We sat in those seats since year 2, then she went crazy last year so now we have our own so we don't have to deal with her. Chris, I think our friend is still selling his sharks tickets on the 31st (sec 112 row 7 seats 1&2). Let me know if you want me to see if he is still selling them. So good game last night. Looks like the Wild had the fire back. Came out pretty flat to start the 3rd, but they ramped it back up. They really need to stop the dump and chase the last 5 in the 3rd tho. Russ
We were in seats 1 & 2. I knew that you were in that general area and looked around for you but didn't spot you. I was getting a kick out the mullet dude in 110 row 1 messin' with the goalie last night.
Anyone here selling tickets for Saturday's game against the Wings? If not, I'll try my luck with the scalpers
Haha, Cory Campbell. Funniest guy ever. Him and his dad get on everyone's case. He has the first 2 rows worth of seats. For the playoffs his dad has a bag of signs that he holds up to the glass. Some of the funniest things ever. If you can wait till the puck drop, you will be able to pick them up pretty cheap. Just remember that the Wings game is a premium, so everyone will want more cash. If they have tickets with the pictures on them, those are season tickets and they did NOT pay the premium for those games. If they are the standard ticketmaster tickers, then they paid the premium on those. And now tenderloins is out for the rest of the season. Atleast he got paid 7.5 mil to play 6 games. Russ
We need to get rid of him. Heck, Owen Nolan asked to be taken off the injured list to get in the game with the Sharks and Belanger is playing with pneumonia. Let's get a player who actually wants to play for us and no more of this bull from Gaborik.
I will talk to him tomorrow night at the game. I wasn't sure if you already had seats or not, but he has them on his list of tickets that he is going to sell. So I just need to check if he still has them. $150 for the pair and no parking pass. Russ
They mentioned on the news he may have hip surgury and be out the rest of the season. YAY :hsugh: Now we won't get anything for him. It was a fun game. I'm a bit surprised that we won but definitely happy. Surprised nobody mentioned the goal we scored that didn't count but they didn't bother to whistle play dead either. WTF. I think the officials forgot their glasses that night. Also pretty funny to hear the crowd give the officials the what for each time nabokov froze the puck. On a side note there were some interesting characters sitting behind me giving useless commentary all night long. such notables as: "It's interesting, hockey is one of the only sports to use strategy....maybe football....a little." With 4 min left in the 3rd, "Now we go back to playing defense, they scored two goals in 30 seconds, they could score if they wanted to, but no, Lemaire wants them to just play defense." There were a lot more but those were the most funny.
Yeah, word on the street is that he's going to have hip surgury on his other hip now. Wouldn't placing him on IR free up his salary from the cap space though? If that was the case, I'd think we'd be better off using that $$$ for a free agent as opposed to getting hosed on a trade and then using the money next year.
Thanks for the tip on the type of tickets...that will come in handy when haggling Any idea on how much I can expect to pay if I wait until after the puck drops? Also, waiting till puck drop won't be that big of a deal...I'm usually in line for beer numero uno at that time anyway!
Do you think the NHL will ever have a winter classic here once the new outdoor stadiums are done? I'm guessing Fenway will be next but after that maybe here? It would be a great experience to attend I think.
Gaby will be in Vail on Monday for his going replacement. 10-14 weeks. I think if the wild put him on LTIR (long term IR), his money comes off of the cap, but that only does us good if DR is on the market to pick someone up. I would guess that he will be placed within the next week or 2. wait to see how Gaby is feeling and go from there. No idea, I have tickets all the time. But I do know that I have seen people use the scalpers against each other. I would think that it all has to do with the location of the seats and the demand. Hot rumor is the 2011 or 2012. Tony Larson (the guy that is in charge of the xcel ice) has been in Chicago since the NHL truck with all the equipment showed up. So it is kinda like a big training session. There were saying that it would more than likely go in the new Twins stadium, but it might go in the new Gopher stadium. Russ
I agree, but remember the commissioner is an idiot. It would not surprise me to see a winter classic played at Dodger stadium or something first.
These are the starters for the All Star game. I understand that it's in Montreal and it's the 100th anniversary, but throwing players in simply because they play for the Habs or they are Montreal natives is ridiculous. Not one single player from Boston, San Jose or Detroit? Alex O? Crosby didn't score for what, 15 games or something. I get he's the golden child and all but a starter after a big drought like that?! I get Giguere is from Montreal but a starter?? Price over Thomas in the East? East C Sidney Crosby, PIT C Evgeni Malkin, PIT RW Alexei Kovalev, MON D Andrei Markov, MON D Mike Komisarek, MON G Carey Price, MON West RW Patrick Kane, CHI C Jonathan Toews, CHI C Ryan Getzlaf, ANA D Brian Campbell, CHI D Scott Niedermayer, ANA G Jean-Sebastien Giguere, ANA
I definitely agree... Three Anahiem players and three Chicago players starting!?!? Boo! Giguere isn't even the best goalie on his team right now and really has lost time to the backup. Four Montreal players in the starting lineup too, WOW! Especially when the league is making sure 1 player from every team is represented in the game, then you stack the lineup while some other players get left off. Oh well, at least Backstrom got some props and made it as a reserve.
6 goals the previous 6 games... 6 tonight, all even strength nonetheless! Love seeing Butternut getting in the action with a goal and a helper! Oh and hopefully Koivu and Bruno can get on a bit of a roll since they had both been in a bit of a goal scoring slump. I would also be quite satisfied to see Kolanos stay in the lineup for the rest of the year as he continues to play solid hockey while also winning big faceoffs.
Yeah, Kolanos has been pretty solid since this past call up. I think that Pouliot has pretty much sealed his fate. .....glad to see poor Shep get a goal tonight, though.
Ok, so now I have people calling me asking if I want to buy their tickets. Is that a bad sign?!? lol!
