A Winter Storm Warning Remains In Effect From 6 Pm This Evening To 6 Pm Cst Sunday.
A Powerful Storm System Will Eject Across The Upper Midwest Over The Weekend...and Bring Dangerous Winter Weather Conditions To Much Of Central And Southern Minnesota And West Central Wisconsin. Two Rounds Of Precipitation Are Expected...with Significant Snowfall Accumulations... Possible Icing...and Blowing And Drifting Snow.
The First Round Of Precipitation Will Begin This Evening And Last Through Saturday Morning As The Storm System Moves Into The Central Plains States. Areas To The South Of A Line From Appleton To Litchfield To Red Wing Could See A Period Of Freezing Rain... With Areas In The Minnesota River Valley Seeing The Highest Likelihood Of Ice Accumulations. Regions To The North...including The Bulk Of The Twin Cities Should See All Snow. The Heaviest Snow Should Fall Between Midnight Tonight And The Early Morning Hours Saturday...resulting In Maximum Accumulations Of 3 To 6 Inches In A Band From Little Falls To Red Wing. Strong Easterly Winds Sustained At 25 Mph Will Result In Blowing And Drifting Snow...with Reduced Visibilities.
The Second Round Of Precipitation Will Commence During The Late Afternoon Hours On Saturday And Last Through Sunday...as The Storm System Moves Through The Mid Mississippi Valley And Into The Great Lakes. All Areas Should See Snow...with No Mixed Precipitation Expected After Early Afternoon Saturday. The Heaviest Snow Should Occur Saturday Night...with An Additional 7 To 12 Inches Of Accumulation Possible To The East Of A Line From Saint Cloud To Blue Earth.
The Snow Should Begin To Taper During The Sunday Afternoon Hours...but Blowing And Drifting Snow May Continue Past This Time.
Storm Total Accumulations Should Range From 9 To 12 Inches In Most Locations...with As Much As 15 To 18 Inches Possible Along The Interstate 35 Corridor And The Saint Croix River Valley. Residents And Travelers In This Area Should Keep Close Watch Over The Weather Conditions This Weekend...and Consider Postponing Or Changing Travel Plans. If Must Venture Outside This Weekend... Ensure That You Have Taken Appropriate Precautions...including Packing A Winter Safety Kit And Notifying Others Of Your Travel Plans.

It changed from a winter storm watch to a warning. Lots of snow south of St. Cloud basicly. If you plot the lines they talk about in there, Cottage Grove is gonna get nailed.

I'll be awake until about 2 or 3 am, it's FRIDAY night man! Midnight donuts anyone?

Nothing has started downtown yet but we'll see, still an hour and a half of work before I can even think about the rest of the night. I hate this job.

I thought i saw some flakes earlier but that was just wishful thinking ;)

Well snow is very hard to predict because it doesn't echo right with the radar. You would think, though, that they would have known it was mostly going to be rain because we know rain echoes just fine on the radar!

I think tonight it will blow over too :(

Same story in Saint Paul. Raining ice woke me up last night, and it's "lightly" snowing right now. Hope they where right when they predicted the worst was coming on Saturday night...
