Hi there, I have a 06 WRX with 60k miles.

I checked my brake this morning, and saw that my right rear brake pad has completely worn out, so I checked the other side and expected the same. To my surprise it actually has about 1mm left. That seems weird to me, and I don't know if a piston got stuck or something.

However, I checked the front and both sides have about 1.1mm left. Is it normal that my rear brake wear faster than the front? And my right rear brake pad wear faster than my left rear brake?

Have you had the car since new? The front pads were probably replaced at some time in the past. And the left wearing out faster with 1 mm more than the other is a sign that you need to flush the brake fluid, it's pretty normal.

If they are the original brake pads and you made it to 60k miles before changing them at all, then that means you are really light with your braking. One who is moderate on their brakes will wear front and rear evenly, one who is a heavy on their brakes will wear out the fronts first. So if you are wearing your rears first, then I would say you must be very light on the brakes.

Yeah, when I drive on the street I use just enough braking to stop (grandma kind ;). And I commute highway 60 miles a day. Thanks for the explanation.
