50WHP is a conservative guess. I'm pretty sure Matt Monson ran a 20G hybrid and was hitting 170WHP at ~5,000 ft with his setup. That, a TBE, and a MBC running at 10 psi were his only power mods.
Neither a td04 of vf11 flow enough for you to see a 50hp gain on heads alone. Notice Matt Monson's gains were with a TBE and MBC. Thats where the bulk of the power came from. Untill you're at a 16G or better, its not going to be a major gain. I might see 50-60hp when I do actually swap heads, but thats with a gt30r. If your turbo cannot support the airflow, that is going to be the largest restriction in the system. But if you can score heads and an intake for cheap, go for it. Just don't expect it to be the magical solution.
^ well, ****TO MY KNOWLEDGE**** the only difference between the 20g and the 22t is the non intercooled aspect of the 22t,smaller injectors sohc restrictive heads and a tiny turbo. the 20g comes intercooled (check for my car) has bigger injectors, throttle body, turbo, and Has great flowing DOHC heads liberty RS-220hp Legacy SS-160hp= 60hp difference so my guess would be, with 20g heads, intake manifold, and injectors +200cc in displacement, downpipe, td04 and raised boost= 50 honest hp over stock* its just a guess, a somewhat reasonable guess in my opinion Tim
Fair enough. What I got out of the discussion was that the heads themselves would = 50hp. Hopefully at the end of this summer we can see what a straight head swap can do when I change mine out.
