have you considered putting more holes in your risers to possibly accommodate other drivers seat position? Though you probably don't plan to have anyone else driving your car
Yeah, not a big rush at this point. The seatback has to be welded to the cage to be legal otherwise I would have just done sliders. I'm going to see how much room there is on a passenger side after the cage is in and possibly move that seat back. It's currently at the same spot as the driver so it would be really hard for anyone 6' tall to even fit into the car.
Oh, makes sense! Can't wait to see the outcome of the cage, hopefully you'll still be able to put car seats in the back!
Fobia did the cage. They're set on the low end of what's acceptable so it's not that bad. It actually seems easier now than when I just had the seats and no cage. More to hold onto and slide over. Obviously a lot more of pain than stock though. The removable steering wheel is a requirement. Hopefully it let's me get some more passes in and keeps me safe.
That's a clean setup though! @xluben do you plan on putting padding on the bars? Primarily around where your head is?
Yeah, the rally and road race cages have a lot more bars in comparison. Drag just goes from this, to having the hoop directly around the driver. Yes, the cage with have SFI-approved padding anywhere near my head. I need to get it certified and painted first.
Can't wait to see what this car is capable of...got to be darn near the fastest manual transmission Subaru!?
There are a couple in the low 9's and a couple in the 8's. The ones in the 8's now have PPG 6 speeds but 8's have been done on the stock 6 speed it just tends to start breaking.
I redid the Kirkey seat mounting without the square tube I had used to raise them up before. The first 4 pics are the passenger side. It is mounted in basically the "normal" spot for the brackets. Way low and far back for me to drive so the driver side I used a strip of aluminum to mount it a few inches further forward. Still way lower and a bit further back than before. It's pretty far back compared to what I normally would sit at but I think it will work out well. http://www.benjohnsonphotography.com/photos/i-rqwMqFx/0/L/i-rqwMqFx-L.jpg/img] [img]http://www.benjohnsonphotography.com/photos/i-xBPLQn4/0/L/i-xBPLQn4-L.jpg
Here are some pictures of the cage in the daylight. This is with the seats in the new positions. Still need to install the harness and fabricate the mounts for the seat backs to the cage.

Your "sleeper" is looking less sleepy with that roll cage and the seats. Hahaha Man, Fabiola does some nice work!
Picked up some new wheels for this summer. Silver Enkei RPF1 17x9" +45 with hubcentric rings and Honda centercaps.
Ben's car doesn't even have a wing or hood scoop...It can't be a race car! It's just a little 4 banger Honduh. I think it would be funnier to put Dodge/neon badges on it. I bet it would legitimately confuse a lot of people.
I don't really care what logo is on them, I just got the Honda ones because you can buy a whole set for less than the price of a single RPF1 cap...
Those look like they would be scary in the rain. How much life you planning on getting out of them? Never heard of the brand, I'm assuming they were budget friendly?
They're a drag radial, so they're probably pretty bad in standing water. They have more tread than a lot of the other drag radials out there, so I'm hoping they'll do OK on the street. I hope I can get at least a season or two out of them. Maybe 5,000 miles since I don't drive it a ton of miles. Price was actually similar or a little more than most other drag radials. The brand is pretty much only drag tires so they're less well known. This size is made for AWD/import cars (Subaru, EVO, etc) and has a softer sidewall to reduce driveline shock. At least that's what they say. More expensive than both the Hoosiers or Mickeys that I would have considered. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/mnh-rod35/overview/ http://www.summitracing.com/parts/hoo-17328/overview/ http://www.summitracing.com/parts/mtt-3470/overview/
I had those on the same size RPF1's last year and they didn't like to hook even at 600WHP. Drag radials are a lot stickier.
595 RS-Rs are nice for light autocross and street use. You get any heat into them and grip starts to fade. Serious autocrossers don't use them. Don't get me wrong I think they are great for the price and stuff I do. Definitely not drag tires.
