That guy ain't got **** on me.

Sunday, i was in Eau Claire, Wisconsin for an autocross, and after the event one of our longer standing MAC members offered to have the whole lot of us over for a "Post Cheddarcross BBQ". this was awesome. good food, company, jokes, and stories. so around 9pm we wrapped up the BBQ and i set forth on my merry way for the 2 hr drive back to Minneapolis. After leaving their house, i pull off of WI-53 onto WI-8.

Just as i pull on to WI-8, right behind a gold 4 door of some sort... i see a big dark object come at me quite quickly and WHAM! hit the car. naturally, I'm startled and start looking all over to see if it's hit the windshield, if it's broken and generally freaking out a little bit. i keep driving though, and suddenly i see feathers being blown about in the car a little...

WTF? looking in my rear view mirror, i see something in my rear view mirror. in my car. on the back shelf.

A bird, flew directly at the car, hit the A-pillar, barrel rolled through the driver's side front window (The only open window), flew within 4" of my face as it passed between the fixed seat headrest and the b-pillar, struck the top of the rear window, and slid down into the crack between the rear window and the parcel shelf.

    Holy ****.
i quickly pulled into the next gas station, bought a crappy 35mm camera, and started snapping away. pictures will be up as soon as i get the film developed. the woman working there was nice enough to give me some rubber gloves to pull the bird out with.

Ahahaha! That is ridiculous. Stupid wildlife. Dan and I almost broadsided a deer on highway 8 by taylors falls on our way back. Nearly missed being rearended by the douche in a neon behind me as I was locking up the brakes too. That would have been a horrible ending to an otherwise very fun day. Btw lmk if you need help packing up the timing trailer in the future.

On the way home from work today i had both front windows open, saw a big butterfly comin and it ended up smacking the side of my face through the passenger window! made me think of this. Must be something with the aerodynamics of our cars with the windows open.. Wonder if that's covered under warrenty......

Shane, How can you tease us with horrible automotive interior bird carnage and not opt for 1 hour photo?

    lmao!

I managed to take out a pigeon with my hood (it just barely missed the scoop) a few years back -- I ended up with feathers, blood and **** all up over the hood, windshield and roof. I think the little bastard was trying to kill himself because it basically divebombed out of an overpass on I-94 out by Albertville. lol.

    That'd be the one.

Anyone have a copy of Shane's old avatar ? The one where he's fondling a tyre ? We could probably work something up with that.

    Stuart.

Thats amazing. My only bird incident was in our full sized van I hit a seagull who didnt get off the road fast enough. When we got to the cabin I had to pry him off the car..neck and head caught behind the license plate frame. I had no idea it was even there, I thought it bounced off to the side of the road. I bet I put some animal rights activists into cardiac arrest for that 1/2 hour of driving.

A friend and I hit a duck one time. (booze cruising on gravel roads) It flew out of the ditch just to make an impression... Which it did.
