Ziptie Rally Team (ZRT) car 858, an Open Light 2002 Impreza, is leaving today for Chilton, WI and the Gravity Park Twin Performance Rallies. 858 is driven by Anthony Israelson and co-driven by Jason Standage. Matt "Chux" Alexander and Martin Asao are along to crew. About Gravity Park I'll be updating this thread as close to real-time as I can whenever the team sends me info on the event. This is a tough rally on cars as I illustrated last year by smacking up the front of #171 pretty good. It's supposedly smoother and easier to follow this year so I'm hoping Izzy and Jason can have some fun with it! Izzy and Jason at NT1 car 858 pic of 171 at GPTPR last year Green Side Up!
the service vehicle lost both right wheels near waupaca. the guys drove the rally car to chilton but lost a brake line along the way. Right now the rig is locked up in Waupaca and everyone is down in Chilton. Unfortunately their safety gear is locked in the rig and they have no replacement brake line. Dave and I arranged to get them safety gear but now the question is whether or not a brake line can be procured.
the guys drove 60 miles back to waupaca to get spares and safety gear from the truck - they got back to the motel at 1:30pm and were up by 7am working on the car. Found that both rear lines were leaking and replaced them. Izzy and Jason are out on recce so fingers crossed for no more bad luck!
GP 1 done, took a minute penalty, and running bout 65% on stages, sitting 2nd in class 7/8 overall. Hill had a issue and had to rally rally rally around him in the oval! Cars good, Martin and Chux are doing double duty service and marshalling!
Got home last night, what a weekend! I fell asleep real early. I'm up early today, gotta drive down to the cities, run a few errands, and then re-pack to drive out to PA. RALLY RALLY RALLY
What a weekend. Good job to Jason and Izzy for pressing through and running the event, and for driving it home! View attachment 22263 BTW: Should probably check into that electrical tape on the front brake line....
Heard the horror story on Tuesday about the service truck, brake lines and safety equipment. Awesome you guys still completed and drove her home! Glad no one was hurt too! ~Dan
